Next year is expected to bring several new Halo games, though none of them will be a direct sequel titled *Halo 7*. The Halo series is incredibly important to Xbox, much like Mario is to Nintendo – it’s a long-standing cornerstone of the brand. The first Halo game launched with the original Xbox and led to many sequels and spin-offs, primarily developed by Bungie, the series’ creator. However, Bungie eventually decided to focus on a new project, *Destiny*, and passed control of Halo to 343 Industries, which has recently been renamed Halo Studios.
When the latest console generation launched, 343 Industries released *Halo Infinite*. While the game was generally well-received, especially considering the difficult development process and the disappointing campaign of *Halo 5* six years earlier, its live service features didn’t resonate with players. Despite being free-to-play, the multiplayer lacked content and felt strangely organized, ultimately falling short of expectations. Now, there’s a lot of talk about the future of Halo, and it sounds like the plans are bigger than anyone anticipated.
Two New Halo Games Reportedly Releasing Next Year

A new report from reliable Halo insider Rebs Gaming claims that two Halo games are currently in development and scheduled for release next year. One is the long-anticipated remake of *Halo: Combat Evolved*. It’s expected to be a complete overhaul, similar to the recent *Resident Evil* remakes, with modernized gameplay. The insider specifically mentioned that features like sprinting have been added to the original game.
Next year, a new multiplayer Halo game is planned as a continuously updated live service, similar to Fortnite. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed as a battle royale, it’s expected to receive frequent content updates and may even allow players to create their own content – something Halo has done before with custom games and Forge mode, but potentially on a much larger scale. Earlier this year, rumors surfaced about a Halo game coming to PS5, described as a fresh experience, though details remain limited.
Rebs Gaming also reported that a new Halo game featuring Master Chief is still planned. These current projects aren’t taking the place of that game, but it’s likely much further off in the future.
