Okay, so this is kinda weird. A game that was only on PlayStation 5 just dropped on Xbox Series X/S out of nowhere! But don’t get too excited if you were hoping for something like Astro Bot or a big title like Death Stranding 2 – this isn’t that. It’s a much smaller game, not nearly as impactful, but if you’re into farming simulators, it might be right up your alley.
The new farming game, Song of the Prairie, from The Droplet Studio and AOE Plus, is available on the Microsoft Store for $22.99 for both Xbox Series X and Series S. This is a significant discount compared to the PlayStation 5 price of $35.49. It’s actually cheaper on Steam, where it costs only $19.99. The reason for the price difference between Xbox and PlayStation isn’t clear, but it’s a considerable saving for Xbox players.
A 2024 Farming Sim
The Droplet Studio, a team based in China, recently released their first game, Song of the Prairie. It’s received a generally positive response on Steam, with a 77% approval rating. However, players on the PlayStation Store have given it a lower score of 2.87 out of 5. Currently, there aren’t any scores from professional critics on Metacritic, so it’s hard to say what they think of the game.
The game was first released as an early access title on Steam in 2023, followed by a full PC launch in 2024. It didn’t arrive on PlayStation 5 until spring 2025, meaning the PS5 had the game exclusively for less than a year.
The game is a relaxed, open-world farming simulator set in a remote prairie town. You play as someone tasked with restoring the town to its former glory after years of neglect.
Currently, the new Xbox Series X game isn’t included with Xbox Game Pass, and there are no plans to add it. This means the only way to play it on Xbox Series X or S is to purchase the game directly.
