A recently released roguelike game is now available to download and keep for free as part of a special promotion. The past year has been fantastic for fans of the genre, with popular titles like Hades 2, The Rogue Prince of Persia, Ball X Pit, Blue Prince, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, and Absolum all launching to great success. While this newly free game isn’t as famous as those, players who’ve tried it have given it positive reviews.
For the next week, until the morning of June 4th, you can get the PC game Lonestar for free. It’s this week’s free offering from the Epic Games Store. Developed by Math Tide, Lonestar is a deckbuilding roguelike that first launched in early access in 2023. The full version 1.0 update came out last year, so now is a great time to try it out!
I’ve been checking out Lonestar, and honestly, even though it’s not super famous yet, the buzz around it is really good. I looked at the Steam reviews, and it’s sitting at “Very Positive” with almost 1,000 reviews! It’s still a smaller number of players, but it definitely seems like people are having a blast with it.
The only real drawback to this free game is that Lonestar isn’t usually very pricey. It normally costs $12.99 on the Epic Store, so this giveaway isn’t a huge discount for PC gamers. However, it’s hard to complain about getting a free game! As we head into June, the Epic Store might offer some more valuable freebies, but this is still a good way to finish May.
