The highly anticipated game of 2026 comes out tomorrow, and it will be immediately playable on the Steam Deck. While some PC games launch without Steam Deck compatibility and add it later, this game is confirmed to be ‘Steam Deck Verified‘ right from the start, meaning Steam Deck and PC players can enjoy it simultaneously.
Tomorrow, Mewgenics—a new game from the creators of The Binding of Isaac (Edmund McMillen) and The End Is Nigh (Tyler Glaiel)—will be released exclusively on Steam. There are no plans for a console version at launch, and early reviews are very positive.
The Highest-Rated Game of 2026, So Far
It’s only been a little over a month into 2026, and already a game is receiving rave reviews! While Mewgenics doesn’t officially launch until tomorrow, February 10th, and therefore has no user reviews on Steam yet, critics have already had a chance to play it. Currently, it boasts a score of 90 on Metacritic, significantly higher than any other game released this year. The next highest-rated game, a Nintendo Switch exclusive, has an 87.
This new game is a unique blend of strategy and luck! It’s a ‘roguelite’ where you breed and build a powerful army of cats, then lead them through tough, turn-based battles. The goal is to create the perfect feline force and conquer challenging adventures.
The price of Mewgenics when it launches is still unknown, but it has been confirmed to be “Steam Deck Verified.” This means Valve has thoroughly tested the game on the Steam Deck to ensure it runs smoothly from beginning to end, with full compatibility for the handheld’s screen and controls. For those not interested in Mewgenics, good news – one of the most anticipated games of 2025 is now also confirmed to work well on the Steam Deck.
