Netflix has become a popular choice for crime dramas, and it’s set to expand its offerings even further in 2027. While it didn’t always focus on this genre, Netflix has quickly become a key player, delivering some of the most engaging thrillers and mystery shows on television. Series like The Lincoln Lawyer and The Night Agent demonstrate its commitment to the genre.
Netflix currently offers a strong selection of crime dramas, including popular series like Narcos and Ozark, as well as limited series such as Fool Me Once. However, the streaming service is facing some changes in the near future as several shows are ending. With announcements about the future of series like The Lincoln Lawyer and The Night Agent, Netflix will soon have noticeable holes in its programming. While they may have new content planned, the platform is heading into a period of uncertainty.
With both The Lincoln Lawyer finishing after five seasons and The Night Agent concluding with its fourth, we’re seeing a change in how shows are made. However, the fact that both series were allowed to reach natural endings feels like the start of something new and positive.
Netflix Is Giving The Lincoln Lawyer & The Night Agent Better Opportunities For Satisfying Endings
Even though viewers might be sad to see The Night Agent and The Lincoln Lawyer finish their runs, Netflix is giving these shows a rare opportunity. Netflix typically gives serialized shows a limited lifespan – some last three seasons if they perform well, while others are canceled after just one. Often, these series end abruptly without enough time to wrap up storylines properly, leaving fans feeling unsatisfied even if the shows had a dedicated audience.
As a viewer, I’m really glad Netflix is letting both The Night Agent and The Lincoln Lawyer wrap things up properly. Instead of just cancelling them out of the blue, we’re getting final seasons! The Lincoln Lawyer, which everyone was already talking about having a fifth season, will get to finish Mickey Haller’s story, and The Night Agent will give us one last dose of thrilling action before it ends. It’s good to know these popular shows will get the chance to have satisfying conclusions, and finish on their own terms – that’s how it should be!
There Are Still Plenty Of Worthwhile Crime Dramas On Netflix
Although Netflix doesn’t have quite as many crime dramas as it used to, there’s still plenty to look forward to after shows like The Lincoln Lawyer and The Night Agent finish their runs. Netflix has been successfully adapting Harlan Coben’s novels into limited series for several years, and they’ll be continuing that trend with a new series based on his Myron Bolitar books next year. Plus, popular shows like The Diplomat and Big Mistakes will be back with new seasons as well.
Netflix has made a smart move by adapting popular books, similar to Prime Video’s Bosch, and focusing on action-packed thrillers. It’s always disappointing when a show ends, but it’s good to know that The Night Agent and The Lincoln Lawyer will have proper conclusions. With more new shows planned, Netflix seems to have a clear strategy for the future.
