The Power Rangers series often features former villains becoming heroes, particularly when those villains were once Power Rangers themselves. This started with the famous Green Ranger storyline in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and it’s happened several times since, including a memorable redemption for two powerful Ranger villains 22 years ago.
The Power Rangers Ninja Storm storyline kicked off with a four-part adventure called Return of Thunder on April 12, 2003. The episode introduces the Thunder Rangers, Hunter and Blake, who initially appear as enemies to the main Ninja Storm team – Shane, Tori, and Dustin. The Thunder Rangers are determined to defeat the Wind Rangers, but they eventually discover a surprising truth about their parents. This revelation frees them from the control of the villain, Lothor, and they team up with Shane, Tori, and Dustin to defeat him – and it all starts in this first episode.
The Thunder Rangers Had To See The Truth Before They Joined The Heroes

When the season started, the Thunder Rangers were strong opponents of the Wind Rangers, largely because they deeply disliked them. This animosity stemmed from lies told by Lothor, who convinced Blake and Hunter that the Wind Rangers were to blame for their parents’ deaths.
The Thunder Rangers were determined to defeat the Wind Rangers, and they nearly managed to eliminate Sensei Watanabe. Luckily, the parents of the Rangers showed up and exposed Lothor as the one truly responsible for their deaths.
Trouble flared up again when Choobo lured them into a trap, and the brothers were even forced to battle each other. Luckily, the Wind Rangers managed to snap them out of it and undo the mind control.

Blake and Hunter finally figured out that Lothor was their main enemy. Knowing they couldn’t defeat him alone, they joined forces with the Wind Rangers. This made the Thunder Rangers a strong and essential part of the team, and they also learned the truth about their parents and who they were really fighting against.
