28 Years From Now: The Bone Temple Movie Hits Cinemas in 2026 – and
As a movie enthusiast, I must express my thoughts about an intriguing sequel that continues Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s chilling vision of a zombie apocalypse. Titled this time by director Nia DaCosta, the film promises to delve deeper into their captivating world. The narrative unfolds swiftly after the events of its predecessor, following our protagonists Spike (Alfie Williams) and Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who have retreated to a secluded island to escape the contagion that has ravaged humanity. Prepare yourself for an electrifying journey into survival, isolation, and the relentless struggle against fate.
The upcoming movie was filmed concurrently with its prior installment and is set to hit theaters in January. Notably, it brings back Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell, and the trailer offers a sneak peek into the dynamic performances of the ensemble cast.
The video appears to establish two main narratives, with a focus on the life of Dr. Kelson (Fiennes), while simultaneously zeroing in on Sir Jimmy Crystal and his group of associates, referred to as the Jimmies.

The Bone Temple’. This movie is directed by Nia DaCosta and continues the world established in ‘28 Years Later‘ by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland. However, it takes a different approach to that world.
In the ongoing saga, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) finds himself in an astonishing, potentially world-altering romantic situation, while Spike’s (Alfie Williams) meeting with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) spirals into a horrifying ordeal from which he can’t free himself.
In the realm of The Bone Temple, it’s not just the infected that pose the gravest risk to existence; often, the ruthless actions of the surviving humans can prove even stranger and more chilling.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, director DaCosta discussed her intentions for The Bone Temple’s sequel, explaining that she aimed to distinguish it from its earlier versions.
She mentioned that what links them together is their shared quality of being uniquely eccentric, distinctive, and deeply personal artistic creations.
When discussing the project with Danny, Alex, and other producers prior to joining, I emphasized that I planned to put my unique spin on it. In other words, I wasn’t aiming to create a movie similar to Danny Boyle’s, as recreating his style is impossible due to his exceptional talent, and it didn’t appeal to me.
She noted, ‘I find it challenging to express the distinctive, unconventional, and unexpected atmosphere of the movie, so I’m choosing not to try.’
In addition, it’s been announced that Cillian Murphy will reprise his character, Jim, from the movie “28 Days Later” in an upcoming film. His appearance is intended to pave the way for a potential third and concluding installment in the “28 Days Later” series, though at this point, it’s not yet confirmed.
