The best anime often have moments that dramatically improve the story, whether it’s a single episode, an arc, or an entire season. Even shows that start well usually have some weak points early on, and most face challenges along the way. Creating a truly perfect anime is difficult, but the ones that succeed become classics.
It’s rare for an anime to be perfect, but some manage it right away. Several one-season shows, like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Death Note, come very close. A few longer series also start incredibly strong, such as Vinland Saga and Mob Psycho 100. Sometimes, a particularly amazing season in the middle of a longer show can completely elevate the entire series. That’s what happened with the shows listed – they were good at first, but really became exceptional after a standout addition.
3) Demon Slayer Season 2

The first season of Demon Slayer quickly grabs your attention, though it takes a little while for the story and Tanjiro’s training to fully develop. However, Season 2 is where the anime truly shines, becoming a standout series with a fantastic start-to-finish experience. Featuring the Mugen Train and Entertainment District arcs, Season 2 significantly increases the tension and delivers even better animation and emotional impact. Moments like Rengoku’s death are incredibly powerful, and battles against characters like Dabi and Gyutaro showcase the anime’s full potential. From Season 2 onward, Demon Slayer consistently improves, establishing it as a major turning point in the series – it’s good before, but these arcs are what make it truly great.
2) Attack on Titan Season 2

Similar to Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan starts off strong and consistently improves. The anime truly hits its stride in Season 2, offering relentless action from beginning to end. The season’s concise length forces focused storytelling, and it delivers brilliantly. It’s packed with major reveals – like the truth about Ymir, the betrayal of Reiner and Bertolt, and Eren’s power over Titans. The animation is noticeably better than in Season 1, and the emotional impact is stronger because we’ve grown attached to the characters. Unlike some parts of the first season, Season 2 maintains a consistently high quality throughout all twelve episodes, perfectly serving the overall story.
1) My Hero Academia Season 3

While My Hero Academia is consistently good across its eight seasons, the early episodes require some patience as the story is established, and there are a few slower parts in the middle. However, Season 3 is a standout, brilliantly resolving storylines built up in previous seasons. We see compelling development in Deku’s character, and his relationship with Bakugo evolves through a dramatic rescue mission and an exciting rematch. The battle between All Might and All For One is particularly memorable and stands out as a highlight of the anime. Overall, the animation and storytelling reach a new level of quality, and like other popular series such as Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia just keeps getting better.
