Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen Is a Mind-Bending Horror Series
Horror fans can look forward to a new 8-episode series created by Haley Z. Boston and produced by the Duffer Brothers. The show centers on Rachel (Camila Morrone), who visits her fiancé Nicky’s (Adam DiMarco) family cabin before their wedding. But things quickly become unsettling as Rachel starts to suspect her future in-laws have hidden agendas.
As a film and TV lover, I’d say “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” isn’t about solving a mystery, actually. It gives you some answers pretty early on about what’s fueling Rachel’s anxieties. But honestly, it’s still incredibly unsettling and will have you second-guessing everything right up to the finale. It’s one of those shows you really need to experience to get it – it takes the idea of a long-term relationship and twists it into something truly suspenseful, creating this constant feeling of dread from the very beginning.
This series isn’t for the easily disturbed, as it tackles difficult subjects like brain tumors and features plenty of intense, violent scenes. But if you’re looking for a truly frightening experience, it delivers everything a horror fan could ask for.
Jo Nesbø’sDetective Hole Is an Addictive and Twist-Filled Crime Thriller
If you enjoy dark, Scandinavian crime dramas, you won’t want to miss Netflix’s new series. Based on Jo Nesbø’s novel The Devil’s Star, this 9-episode show centers around Harry Hole, a flawed detective in Oslo (played by Tobias Santelmaan), as he investigates a disturbing series of murders committed by a serial killer.
If you’re looking for a compelling crime thriller, Detective Hole is the show everyone’s talking about on Netflix right now. It’s currently a Top 10 hit and has earned high praise, with a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series is addictive and full of unexpected turns, featuring excellent acting and a smart storyline. Set during the Utah War, the Western thriller follows Sara Rowell (Betty Gilpin) and her son Devin (Preston Mota) as they travel west, hoping to find safety. Be warned, though: this show is intensely violent and graphic, so it’s not for viewers who are sensitive to gore. Despite the brutality, it’s a thrilling watch.
If you enjoy popular stories that try a fresh approach, you’ll likely find American Primeval appealing. Like other shows of its kind, it challenges typical genre expectations and avoids clichés. Instead of focusing on heroic figures or a glorified version of the Old West, the series realistically portrays the hardships of the time, especially the constant struggle for survival and the brutal impact of colonization.
This six-episode series feels similar to films like Hostiles and The Revenant, offering a raw and realistic look at the struggle for power in the American West during wartime. If you’re a fan of Westerns, American Primeval is definitely worth watching over a weekend.
