3 Best Netflix Shows To Watch This Weekend (June 5–7)

If you’re looking for something new to watch on Netflix this weekend, June 5–7, 2026, here are three top picks: a Western created by Taylor Sheridan, a fascinating documentary series, and a gripping new crime drama. Although popular shows like The Four Seasons and Nemesis are still trending, these three additions are perfect for a weekend binge.

Netflix is adding lots of new shows and movies this month, including the second season of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender and the third season of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. If you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, we recommend three shows, two of which are short and sweet – perfect for a quick binge!

Lawmen: Bass Reeves

The new series Lawmen: Bass Reeves quickly became popular on Netflix this week, reaching the Top 6 worldwide and in the U.S. Created by Taylor Sheridan, known for shows like Yellowstone and Landman, the series tells the story of Bass Reeves, one of the first African American deputy U.S. Marshals. David Oyelowo, a two-time Emmy nominee, both produced and stars in the show, delivering what many are calling a standout performance.

The eight-episode series Lawmen: Bass Reeves tells the incredible true story of Bass Reeves, who became a lawman in the Old West after the Civil War and went on to become a legendary figure. Featuring a strong cast – including Dennis Quaid, Garret Hedlund, Barry Pepper, and a final performance by Donald Sutherland – and a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, Lawmen: Bass Reeves is a great choice to watch on Netflix this weekend.

Michael Jackson: The Verdict

This weekend, don’t miss Michael Jackson: The Verdict, the most popular show on Netflix right now. This docuseries takes a new look at the famous 2005 trial involving Michael Jackson, featuring interviews with people who were directly involved – including jurors and prosecutors – and exploring the allegations against him.

Despite being acquitted of all charges – including allegations of child sexual abuse – in 2005, Michael Jackson’s relationships with children remain a topic of intense public interest. He admitted to sharing beds with some of them, adding to the controversy. The 3-part docuseries, Michael Jackson: The Verdict, revisits this highly publicized case over 20 years later and can be watched in one sitting. Interestingly, it received a high 80% score from Rotten Tomatoes critics, but only a 7% audience score – a stark contrast to the recent Michael biopic, which has become one of the year’s biggest box office successes.

The Witness

Netflix’s new true crime series, The Witness, is quickly becoming a hit, currently ranking as the #2 show worldwide. Released on June 4th, the 3-part series has earned a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. It tells the story of Rachel Nickell’s murder in 1992 on Wimbledon Common, a horrific crime witnessed by her young son, Alex. The series focuses on the impact of the tragedy on Alex and his father, André, as well as the mistakes made during the initial police investigation.

I just finished watching The Witness on Netflix, and it was fantastic! It’s based on the real case of Rachel Nickell’s murder, and Netflix actually released a documentary, The Murder of Rachel Nickell, around the same time. While both cover the facts of the case and how the killer was caught, the documentary sticks strictly to what happened, while The Witness takes a little creative license to make it more dramatic. Honestly, if you’re looking for something good to watch this weekend, I highly recommend The Witness – it’s a quick watch, you can easily finish it in one go!
