The major games slated for release in 2027 are now confirmed to be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, and surprisingly, two of these are from developers other than Nintendo. While the original Switch sometimes missed out on big third-party titles – though it still sold incredibly well – the Switch 2 seems to be changing that. This issue started to improve in 2026, and by 2027, it looks like the Switch 2 will have no problem attracting major games from all developers.
While the full list of games for 2027 isn’t available yet, things are starting to come together. Some major titles, like Fable, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, and possibly Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, won’t be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. However, the three biggest confirmed games will be on the Switch 2, and one of them is exclusive to the console. This suggests that 2027 is currently looking particularly strong for Nintendo Switch 2 compared to other platforms.
Resident Evil Veronica
Resident Evil Veronica is a reimagining of the classic 2000 game, Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. The new version takes place three months after the events of Resident Evil 2 and at the same time as Resident Evil 3. The original game received very high praise, with a score of 94 on Metacritic, so expectations for this remake are high. However, recent reports suggest the remake will feature some significant changes.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is the third game in the series remaking the classic 1990s RPG, Final Fantasy 7. It follows Final Fantasy 7 Remake (2020) and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (2024). While previous games eventually came to Nintendo consoles, Revelation will be the first to launch on a Nintendo platform—specifically the upcoming Switch 2—at the same time as other consoles. Like the original remake, this installment also features a significant change regarding the main villain, Sephiroth.
Pokemon Wind and Waves
Finally, we have Pokemon Wind and Waves, the newest main series Pokemon game following Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It’s also the first main game to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2, which many expected. This game, along with the other two big releases, currently tops the list for 2027.
The success of the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027 will be crucial, as those who buy it will miss the release of what’s expected to be the biggest game ever – GTA 6 – which is coming out at the end of 2026. However, there’s ongoing speculation that a version of GTA 6 might be developed for the new Switch.
