Later this month, Netflix will add all four action-packed Expendables movies, starring Jason Statham and created by Sylvester Stallone. The series is known for bringing together many popular action stars from the 1980s, 90s, and later years.
Entire Expendables franchise gets Netflix release date
As a huge action movie fan, I’m really excited to hear that all four Expendables films are coming to Netflix on February 20, 2026! I saw this news over on What’s on Netflix, and it means a whole lot of explosions and tough guys will be available to stream!
The series centers around a team of skilled mercenaries, including Lee Christmas (played by Statham) and Barney Ross (played by Stallone), who embark on high-risk missions globally. Their story starts when a mysterious man known as Mr. Church offers them $5 million to eliminate a dictator.
As the series continues, the story becomes more personal, raising the stakes with each installment.
Sylvester Stallone has been a key figure in the film series, not only creating it but also writing the first three movies alongside others and directing the original. He briefly stepped back during the fourth film’s development due to disagreements about the story (according to Deadline). However, encouraged by his fellow actors, he ultimately returned to complete the fourth and final movie, hinting at his involvement on Instagram back in 2018.
The movie series boasts an impressive cast of action heroes, featuring stars like Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, and Tony Jaa, to name just a few.
Although the movies have a loyal following, critics haven’t been very impressed, according to sites like Rotten Tomatoes. However, general audiences seem to enjoy them much more. Overall, the series has made $840 million in ticket sales.
As a fan, I was excited to see the world of The Expendables expand beyond the films! There’s even a comic book, The Expendables Go to Hell, written by Chuck Dixon and Richard C. Meyer, with amazing art by Graham Nolan. I also heard rumors about a TV show and a spin-off movie focusing on a team of female mercenaries called The Expendabelles, but unfortunately, those haven’t happened yet. I’m still hoping they might someday!
