4 Marvel Villains Already Confirmed for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 (& 1 That’s Heavily Rumored)

I’m still reeling from the incredible second season of Daredevil: Born Again! What’s amazing is that, unlike most shows, they’re already filming season three! They’ve been shooting for months, and it’s looking like we’ll get to see it next year, fingers crossed. The season two finale left us with a huge cliffhanger – Matt Murdock is in prison! It’s going to be fascinating to see how he handles things from behind bars, because you just know trouble won’t stop brewing in Hell’s Kitchen even with the Devil locked up.

Even though Matt Murdock (Daredevil) is in prison at the start of Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again, Hell’s Kitchen and New York City will still face danger. Luckily, heroes like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are returning to help, along with Iron Fist. They’ll need all the help they can get, as several Marvel villains are confirmed to appear in the new season – at least four for sure, and possibly a fifth. Here’s a breakdown of who we know about so far.

5) Confirmed: Muse II

Throughout the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, a mysterious storyline developed around Heather Glenn, a therapist who began experiencing delusions and hallucinations connected to her former patient, the serial killer known as Muse. The season finale revealed Glenn herself had taken on the Muse persona, seemingly ready to continue the killer’s work after Fisk’s defeat. Unfortunately, Daredevil, Matt Murdock, is in prison and unable to intervene.

The show takes a significant turn with Heather Glenn becoming a villain, which is quite different from her comic book story. In the comics, she was manipulated by the Purple Man and ultimately died by suicide. While someone else did become Muse in the comics – a woman named Morgan Whittier – she shared a similar background as an artist haunted by visions of a deceased serial killer. It remains to be seen how the series will portray Heather embracing this villainous role, particularly given that she doesn’t appear to be a match for the other, more established vigilantes in terms of fighting ability.

4) Confirmed: The Former Anti-Vigilante Task Force

A crucial part of the season finale of Daredevil: Born Again is Matt Murdock’s imprisonment alongside the remaining members of the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. This mirrors a storyline from the Marvel comics, where Murdock’s arrest put him in jail with his rivals. It’s highly likely that this will lead to conflicts between them in the upcoming episodes.

Okay, so while I get the AVTF wanting to get back at Daredevil, it honestly felt a little too straightforward for a season of Born Again. Look, we know Matt’s going to jail, and that’s going to create plenty of conflict, but this revenge plot just doesn’t feel strong enough to be the main driver of their animosity. They really need to come up with something more compelling to explain why they’re going after him so hard.

3) Confirmed: Fisk

Even though Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin, was Daredevil’s main enemy for most of the show’s run and lost decisively in the second season finale, he’ll be back for a third season. The ending showed him in hiding, enjoying a beach vacation, and stripped of his political power as mayor. However, he likely still has some wealth and connections to help him operate behind the scenes.

It’s uncertain how involved Wilson Fisk will be in the upcoming episodes, but considering his tendency to hold grudges – especially against Daredevil – it’s not surprising he’ll continue to be a key player. Ideally, the show would temporarily sideline Fisk, mirroring the comics where he’d often recover and rebuild after a defeat. However, the conflict between Murdock and Fisk has been central to Born Again, and the series appears more focused on this rivalry than exploring other classic Daredevil storylines involving groups like The Hand or characters like Elektra.

2) Confirmed: Bullseye

One of the biggest surprises in Daredevil: Born Again’s second season was Bullseye’s unexpected shift towards doing some good. While he wasn’t fully redeemed, he used his abilities to help fight other villains, which caught the eye of Matthew Lillard’s character, Mr. Charles. By the end of the season, Mr. Charles had recruited Bullseye to assist with his secretive “overseas work.”

Wilson Bethel will be back as his character in the upcoming season, but it’s unclear how his adventures, which will take place elsewhere, will connect to the events in New York. The show has been exploring a more heroic side of Bullseye, and that development felt earned throughout the season. However, this is still Bullseye – Daredevil’s most notorious enemy. It would be truly shocking if he didn’t eventually return to being a villain.

1) Rumored: The Hand

A key part of Daredevil’s history – the ninja group known as The Hand – hasn’t shown up in the Disney+ ‘Born Again’ series so far. While they were featured in the Netflix Daredevil show and are a major element of the comics, they’ve been completely absent until now. However, The Hand may appear in this summer’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day (though this isn’t confirmed yet), which could then lead to their introduction in Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again.

There’s a growing buzz that the upcoming season of Daredevil will bring back The Hand, which fits well now that Wilson Fisk seems to be out of the picture as the main villain. With Matt currently in prison, some fans are wondering if the show might loosely adapt the “Shadowland” storyline, where Matt takes control of The Hand and briefly becomes a villain himself. It’s certainly possible! Regardless, Daredevil battling ninjas is always a highlight, and something to look forward to.
