Look, I’ll admit it – I’m a sucker for Jason Statham action movies. Every now and then he stars in one where he just kicks butt and takes names, and honestly, it’s always a good time. It’s especially great when it’s directed by Guy Ritchie, because he really knows how to make those movies exciting. And I was thrilled to see that one of their collaborations just hit number one on Netflix’s most-watched list – nearly five years after it came out! It just proves people still love a good, over-the-top action film.
Wrath of Man follows a new, guarded security guard (Statham) working on an armored car. When a robbery occurs, he surprises everyone with hidden talents, leaving his colleagues to question his identity and motives. They soon learn he’s driven by a personal vendetta and is determined to get revenge.
It’s Violent, Action Camp At Its Most Fun
Critics gave Wrath of Man a 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences loved it, giving it a 90% score on Popcornmeter. Most viewers agree it’s classic Jason Statham – full of intense action, violence, and pure entertainment. Denise Pieniazek of Puesta En Escena notes that while the film is based on the 2004 French movie Le Convoyeur, director Guy Ritchie has completely reimagined the story, changing its overall feel and style. Keith Garlington of Keith and the Movies agrees, saying the film maintains a consistently dark and serious tone, with complex characters, and that Statham is perfectly suited to Ritchie’s gritty world.
Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie are back with a classic action film—a gritty, revenge-fueled ride that’s a refreshing change of pace in a genre often bogged down by over-explanation. Wrath of Man lets both of their talents shine, delivering a truly explosive and entertaining experience.
