The game 4:LOOP was showcased with a detailed gameplay demonstration at today’s State of Play event, and it looks promising as it approaches its closed beta test.
We spoke with Mike Booth, the game director and Chief Creative Officer at Bad Robot Games, and he stressed their commitment to making a unique game. This was a big challenge, as there are already many cooperative shooter games available.
When I design games, my main focus is creating fresh, surprising, and unpredictable experiences – both for players and for the development team. The key to doing this is building gameplay that naturally creates unexpected situations.
Despite its ambitious aims, the game 4:LOOP seems to be delivering a truly unique experience. Players enter missions in a world devastated by an alien invasion, where most of humanity has been transformed into glass statues known as the Probability Map.
Players work together to select missions through a voting system, then immediately jump into the gameplay. The maps are built to be open and allow for creative problem-solving as you complete your goals.
Okay, so dying isn’t the end of the world! There’s this awesome 3D printer at your base that actually revives you. But here’s the catch – at least one of your team needs to make it to the escape zone for everyone to win. Honestly, I’m getting a really good feeling about 4:LOOP. I think it’s going to build a seriously dedicated fanbase when it finally comes out later this year.
