Anime fans have been enjoying a resurgence of beloved series recently, with many classics getting rebooted or continuing with new seasons. Over the past few years, we’ve seen several successful anime returns, which has inspired even more franchises to bring back their stories with fresh episodes and exciting new installments. There are still a few highly anticipated reboots and comebacks to look forward to this year.
Many anime fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their favorite series through new reboots or remakes. Fortunately, several major franchises are scheduled to return over the next couple of years, and some have been anticipated for a very long time. Keep reading for a list of upcoming anime reboots.
5). Naruto

It’s uncertain whether the highly anticipated revival of Naruto will actually be released this year. A four-episode reboot featuring the original Team 7 was announced for the anime’s 20th anniversary a few years ago, but it’s been delayed ever since. While there haven’t been any updates since the delay, there’s a strong possibility it could finally come out this year, as the voice actors have already finished recording their parts. Fans are eagerly awaiting its release after a long wait.
4). Dragon Ball Super: Beerus

This release is a special treat for fans, as it’s an improved version of the original Dragon Ball Super anime. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, coming this fall, will feature a refined take on the Battle of Gods story arc – potentially with added content. Expect enhanced visuals, sound, and pacing, making it the best way to experience this part of the series. With a brand new Dragon Ball Super anime already in development, this is the perfect opportunity to revisit the franchise before it moves into its next chapter.
3). The Ghost in the Shell

Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell has seen many adaptations, sequels, and reboots over the years, and they’ve all been quite different. It’s tough to say if this new version will be the definitive one. We recently got another take on the story just ten years ago, but this reboot is being produced by Science SARU, a studio quickly becoming a major force in anime. By returning to the style of Shirow’s original manga, this reboot promises to be even more impactful than previous attempts. Hopefully, this one will finally capture the essence of the story.
2). Sgt. Frog

The popular Japanese series Sgt. Frog is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a major revival! Fans can look forward to a new movie in Japanese theaters, featuring the original voice actors, and a brand new anime series coming this fall. While Sgt. Frog hasn’t gotten much attention outside of Japan, despite its success there, it’s been 15 years since the last TV series. This combined effort – the movie and new anime – could help the show find a wider audience this time around.
1). Magic Knight Rayearth

After a 30-year wait, Magic Knight Rayearth is getting a brand new anime! This reboot is poised to be one of the biggest of the year. Created by CLAMP, the series is a classic isekai story with exciting mecha battles. It was hugely popular in the 90s, and now a new generation will discover what made it so special. With isekai stories more popular than ever, Magic Knight Rayearth is perfectly timed for a Fall release alongside today’s biggest hits.
