Following the original Dragon Ball anime, Dragon Ball Z continued the story and became even more popular, setting a new standard for action-packed anime series. It significantly impacted the genre by emphasizing things like characters powering up, intense rivalries, and the importance of family – elements that are common in many similar shows today. The story begins a few years after the original series, with Goku enjoying a quiet life with his wife and son, Gohan. But his peace doesn’t last long when powerful warriors from space, called Saiyans, arrive on Earth seeking him, and reveal the truth about why Goku was originally sent to this planet.
Goku discovers his heritage and the frightening truth about the Saiyan race. True to his character, he dedicates himself to defending the Earth, the planet where he was raised. Throughout the series, new friends and enemies appear, and Goku and his companions grow stronger after each significant fight. The power-ups in the show are often fueled by intense emotion and dramatic moments, leading to surprisingly powerful results. Although the Super Saiyan transformations are the most well-known, Dragon Ball Z features a variety of exciting changes that keep viewers engaged.
5) Majin Vegeta

Vegeta has always seen Goku as his biggest rival and constantly pushed himself to become stronger, even at great risk. This desire for power became particularly dangerous during the Buu Saga when he made a deal with Babidi, becoming a Majin and gaining immense strength. Although marked on his forehead, Vegeta managed to maintain control despite Babidi’s attempts to manipulate him. Driven to finally fight Goku, Vegeta went to extreme lengths and ultimately achieved his goal.
4) Kid Buu

Buu arrived and immediately began causing widespread destruction, constantly growing stronger with incredible power. His ultimate form, Kid Buu, was a truly evil being, born from splitting off from his original self. He destroyed planets and nearly annihilated the universe before Goku and Vegeta teamed up to defeat him. His relentless attacks and constant changes make him one of the most frightening and memorable villains in Dragon Ball Z history.
3) Frieza’s Ultimate Form

As a ruthless ruler of the galaxy, the villain needed incredible power to maintain control. Surprisingly, instead of transformations increasing his strength, Frieza used them to limit it. He was constantly holding back, and the Namek Saga finally forced him to reveal his full potential. He went through several transformations before finally unleashing his most powerful form.
2) Perfect Cell

Cell was a powerful enemy even before he started absorbing other fighters. He reached his peak strength by absorbing Androids 17 and 18, who were specifically created to help him achieve that perfect form. Besides being able to quickly heal from any injury, Cell could also copy and use the unique abilities of Goku and the other Z Fighters, making him nearly invincible until Gohan discovered a hidden power within himself.
1) Ultimate Gohan

This change didn’t drastically alter Gohan’s look, but it gave him incredible power. Gohan has always been more naturally gifted than Goku, and with help from Elder Kai, he finally reached his full potential. This new form proved to be even stronger than Goku’s Super Saiyan 3, without requiring the same transformation. He became powerful enough to defeat Super Buu on his own, but a single mistake led to a disappointing loss.
