5 Lost MCU Characters We Need to See More Of

As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve watched the MCU grow into something incredible! It started with the Avengers, but now it’s become this massive universe packed with heroes, villains, and so many characters across all 37 films and TV shows. We’re talking about icons from teams like the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Wakanda – even the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Eternals! It’s amazing how far it’s come since those early days.

With so many characters and storylines, it’s not surprising that some have been left behind in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Keeping stories going for so long is challenging, and things don’t always work out as expected. Changes in production schedules, script revisions, and even actors’ availability can cause characters to fade away. While many characters are missing, these five deserve a return.

5) Claire Temple

Claire Temple played a key role in the old Netflix Marvel shows – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders, appearing in all of them. With Daredevil: Born Again bringing those characters back into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would be great to see Claire return. She’s friends with all the heroes, making her a bit like a grounded, street-level version of Nick Fury. Plus, she could expand her role as a medical contact, providing care for a wider range of MCU superheroes.

4) Sharon Carter

Sharon Carter, who is Peggy Carter’s niece, first appeared as a key character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She reappeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but the show ultimately reveals she’s secretly the Power Broker, a dangerous criminal. Throughout the series, she was secretly stealing classified information and illegally trading weapons, establishing her as a significant villain for future stories.

Despite being set up as a returning character in Captain America: New World Order, the Power Broker didn’t reappear. Given her connection to Captain America, it would be unusual for her to show up in other Marvel projects, and with no future appearances planned, she might not return at all. It’s strange that such an unexpected development hasn’t been addressed or explained further.

3) Baron Mordo

In the first Doctor Strange movie, Baron Mordo was initially a friend and ally to Stephen Strange. However, after Strange disrupted the natural order of time, Mordo turned against him. The ending credits hinted that Mordo would be tracking down and eliminating other sorcerers, but this storyline wasn’t followed up on in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. While a different version of Mordo appeared in that film, plans to include the main Baron Mordo character were ultimately scrapped, leaving him out of the story.

2) Aaron Davis

Donald Glover’s brief appearance as Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming was a highlight for many fans. However, he hasn’t been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since that 2017 film. In the comics, Aaron Davis is Miles Morales’ uncle and also operates as the villain Prowler. Even with three more Spider-Man movies released after Homecoming, the Prowler character still hasn’t shown up in the MCU.

The popularity of the Spider-Verse films has boosted Miles Morales’s profile, making it surprising that the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t revisited the character of Aaron Davis (the Prowler). While Donald Glover made a brief appearance as a Prowler variant in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, his origins remain unknown, meaning we haven’t seen the MCU version of Aaron Davis since his introduction in Homecoming.

1) Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is arguably the most important character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He founded the Avengers, led SHIELD, and has appeared in more MCU films and shows than anyone else. That’s why it’s surprising he hasn’t been seen in the franchise since 2023.

Wow, 2023 was packed for Nick Fury! As a huge Marvel fan, I was totally surprised by his storyline in Secret Invasion. Finding out he’s been married to a Skrull this whole time and secretly running SABER? Mind blown. And then he actually stopped a full-scale Skrull invasion – seriously cool. But it didn’t stop there! He played a big part in The Marvels, ending the movie chasing after Monica Rambeau’s disappearance across the multiverse. It was wild to see him finally venturing into space like that, especially since they gave him control of SABER way back in Spider-Man: Far From Home. This year really filled in so many gaps for his character; it felt like we finally got to see what Fury’s been up to.

Nick Fury hasn’t appeared in any Marvel movies or shows since The Marvels. Although several projects have been released since then, he’s been absent from them all. Even though his focus has shifted to cosmic-level dangers, it feels odd that he wasn’t involved with the events of Thunderbolts.

Samuel L. Jackson’s return as Fury in Avengers: Doomsday hasn’t been officially announced, but many fans believe it’s essential given his importance to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
