The new DLC for Marvel Cosmic Invasion shows a promising direction for the game, potentially adding even more Marvel heroes to play as in the future. This side-scrolling beat ’em up is already a lot of fun, bringing together heroes from different eras in a big adventure set in famous Marvel locations. The addition of Cyclops and the Thing confirms that the developers at Tribute Games have exciting plans for what’s to come.
Considering everything, here are five Marvel characters who would be great additions to the game. Each one has a special and interesting skillset that would work well with the existing gameplay, while still offering a fresh experience. Plus, they’re all well-known from the comics and other media, making them perfect choices for coordinated releases across different platforms.
Hawkeye

Hawkeye, a veteran Avenger, would be a great addition to Marvel Cosmic Invasion. He’s a well-known character with a potentially adaptable skillset. He was featured in the classic 1991 game Captain America and The Avengers, which pioneered the beat ‘em up style that Cosmic Invasion builds upon. Bringing Hawkeye back would be a fun nod to the franchise’s gaming history.
Hawkeye would probably play like characters such as Cyclops or Rocket Raccoon, focusing on hitting opponents from a distance while dodging their attacks. His special trick arrows, each with unique effects, could add variety to his gameplay – allowing players to switch between arrow types depending on the situation. This would make him stand out from other ranged characters while staying true to his comic book origins.
Magneto

Magento, who has often fought against—and sometimes alongside—the X-Men, is a powerful choice to battle Annihilus. His control over magnetism would allow for a diverse range of attacks, including building metallic shields for defense, launching metal projectiles, and even manipulating the environment itself to gain an advantage.
Like Hawkeye, Magneto is a well-known figure in Marvel game history – he was the main villain in Konami’s classic X-Men arcade game, which has led to many popular memes. Adding him to Marvel Cosmic Invasion could be really entertaining! Magneto would also bring more complex, morally grey characters to the game, and maybe even lead to a team of villains players could control. His powers are visually interesting and diverse, making him a creative and unique addition to the roster.
Magik

Okay, so as a gamer, I’m really hoping they add Magik to Cosmic Invasion as DLC. She’s Colossus’s sister, and her powers would be awesome! Basically, she can create these teleportation discs all over the battlefield, letting her zip around super fast and slash enemies with her Soul Sword. But it’s not just about quick attacks – she’s also got a lot of magical abilities that could give her a ton of different options in a fight. It would really add something new to the game.
Magik’s powerful Darkchild form – which has appeared in games like Midnight Suns and Marvel Rivals – would make a really exciting ultimate ability. It could temporarily transform her into a stronger version of herself, allowing players to quickly defeat enemies with impressive fire effects. Given her rising popularity and the fact that she’s a magic-based character in a game largely focused on cosmic events, Magik would be an excellent choice for the next downloadable content.
Doctor Doom

Just as Magik embodies the magical side of Marvel without being limited by it, Doctor Doom would be a fantastic addition to Cosmic Invasion. His comic book history is incredibly diverse, giving the game developers a wealth of source material to draw from when creating his abilities. This flexibility would allow him to fit any needed role in the game’s character lineup, which could be a real advantage for the team striving to make each downloadable character feel distinct and special.
Doctor Doom is poised for a major year, with Robert Downey Jr. portraying him in the new Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday. Releasing a Cosmic Invasion downloadable content pack around the film’s release could generate extra excitement by adding Doctor Doom to the game – a smart way to connect the movie and the game. Doom is a well-established villain who would broaden the game’s roster of antagonists, much like the potential addition of Magneto.
Squirrel Girl

Squirrel Girl is a popular character gaining traction with the release of Marvel Rivals, and she’d be a fantastic addition to Cosmic Invasion as downloadable content. While she might seem like a comical choice, her fast movement and unusual attacks would offer a refreshing contrast to characters like Wolverine and Spider-Man. Plus, her ability to summon a swarm of squirrels could be a memorable and surprisingly effective ultimate attack, setting her apart from the rest of the roster.
Squirrel Girl has a strong history in comics of defeating powerful, cosmic villains – even being called ‘unbeatable’ at times. Adding her to the game would be a refreshing change from the usual characters, and that’s part of why she’s so beloved by fans. While she might seem like an unexpected choice, Squirrel Girl would be a perfect fit for the next downloadable content in Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
