Wolverine is now a legendary superhero thanks to his many memorable movie appearances. Hugh Jackman first played the character in the 2000 film X-Men and has been a central figure in Marvel movies ever since. He’s appeared in numerous films within the Fox franchise and is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Deadpool & Wolverine. These movies have adapted many popular storylines from Marvel Comics, with varying degrees of faithfulness to the original source material.
While not every X-Men film stays true to the comics, some scenes are remarkably faithful, almost directly taken from the pages. These adaptations perfectly capture the source material, showcasing Wolverine’s powers as depicted in the comics and even recreating specific comic book panels as live-action moments. Here are 5 of the most accurate Wolverine scenes in Marvel movies, compared to their comic book origins.
5) Battling X-24 – Logan (2017)

Many consider Logan to be one of the best Marvel movies ever made, and arguably the most successful X-Men adaptation. While the film is full of great moments, the final fight between Logan and X-24 is particularly noteworthy for how closely it resembles a classic comic book storyline. In the comics, Logan battled Albert, a robotic clone of himself, and the film’s depiction of Logan fighting his unfeeling double, X-24, captures the same spirit and visual elements.
4) Fighting the Deadpool Corps – Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

While Deadpool & Wolverine changed the definitive ending of Logan, it gave fans the most faithful cinematic portrayal of Wolverine ever. Hugh Jackman returned as the character, but this time wearing his classic yellow and blue comic book suit for his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The fight scene with the Deadpool Corps also featured Wolverine wearing his iconic mask, making him look more like his comic book counterpart than in any previous movie.
3) Duel With Shingen – The Wolverine (2013)

Often overshadowed, The Wolverine is a fantastic comic book film. The 2013 movie draws from a storyline where Logan journeys to Japan and clashes with the Silver Samurai. While the film takes liberties with the original comic book, the fight between Logan and Shingen is remarkably faithful to the source material. Their intense rivalry leads to a balanced and challenging fight that truly pushes Wolverine to his limits, mirroring their comic book confrontation.
2) Adamantium Reinforcement Procedure – X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

The process of bonding adamantium to Wolverine’s skeleton is central to his origin story, as it’s how he gained his famous claws. While the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine made several mistakes with its characters, it accurately portrayed the adamantium procedure as depicted in the comics. This scene is a pivotal moment in the X-Men film series, and the movie got it right, closely mirroring the artwork by Barry Windsor-Smith in Marvel Comics Presents: Weapon X #73 – making it one of the most faithful adaptations from the comics in the entire film.
1) Weapon X Rampage – X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

I have to admit, even though X-Men: Apocalypse wasn’t a favorite for a lot of people, there was one part I absolutely loved: the Weapon X sequence. Seeing Wolverine escape Stryker’s facility was just incredible! It was a short but brutal scene, showing him completely unleashed and fighting his way to freedom. Honestly, it felt like a perfect recreation of his classic comic book origins – he looked exactly how he should, and it was a fantastic nod to one of his most iconic stories. It’s easily one of the best action scenes they’ve ever done with him.
