This story continued threads from 2024’s Blood Hunt and Ryan North’s run on Fantastic Four, and centered around Doctor Doom’s global takeover after becoming the Sorcerer Supreme during Blood Hunt. Surprisingly, Doom didn’t rely on magic to conquer the world; instead, world leaders willingly gave him power. The nine-issue series followed the heroes as they tried to understand how Doom achieved feats no other Sorcerer Supreme had, and ultimately, to stop his rule.

Although some people believe DC K.O. was the best comic event of 2025, One World Under Doom delivered plenty of exciting moments. It pushed characters in unexpected ways and significantly altered the Marvel Universe—at least, until the next big storyline. 5) The Last Issue Was Very Good

While the nine-issue series One World Under Doom wasn’t flawless, the final issue is a standout success. Picking up after the events where Doom unintentionally caused Valeria Richards’ death, One World Under Doom #9 shows the villain desperately trying to bring back the daughter he created and loved. The story does portray Doom in an unusual light at times, so it’s satisfying to see him actively working to correct his mistake.

4) The Fights

The best part of One World Under Doom is definitely the epic battles. Doctor Doom consistently outsmarted the heroes, toying with them at every turn. The fights between Doom and Dormammu in issues #4 and #5 were fantastic, and the showdown with Reed Richards in issue #6 was truly memorable. The final battle in issue #8 is also incredible – Doom dominates until an unexpected event changes everything. While the overall story has some flaws, the amazing action sequences more than make up for them.

3) Doctor Doom Gaslighting the Heroes and the World

A highlight of One World Under Doom was watching Doctor Doom cleverly deceive and manipulate everyone around him. Throughout the early issues, just when the heroes thought they had him figured out, he’d turn the tables. It was consistently entertaining to see Doom outsmart his opponents and stay one step ahead. This story really captured the essence of Doom, and it skillfully built suspense leading up to the reveal of how he obtained his power. While the story sometimes relied on this trick too often, it was always fun to see Doom taunt and humiliate his enemies.

2) Doctor Doom as the Main Character

Doctor Doom is arguably Marvel’s best villain, and that’s a big part of why One World Under Doom is such a compelling read. Marvel fans enjoy seeing Doom succeed – the 2015 Secret Wars event, often hailed as the best Marvel crossover, is a prime example – and this comic delivered that in spades. Issue after issue showed Doom cleverly outmaneuvering his opponents and proving his point about the flaws in the heroes’ world. His confident arrogance practically jumped off the page, creating some truly iconic Doom moments. While not perfect, One World Under Doom was a lot of fun simply because it let Doom do what he does best.
