5 Shocking Moments Invincible Still Has Left to Adapt

Season four of the popular animated series Invincible has finished airing, bringing the show closer to its conclusion. Based on the comic book by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Invincible stays remarkably true to its source material – more so than many other superhero adaptations. While not a perfect copy, viewers can readily see which comic issues and storylines inspired each episode. With season four complete, the show has passed the midpoint of the overall story, but there are still plenty of surprises and exciting developments to come.

The latter part of Invincible contains some truly shocking moments. Be warned, if you only watch the show and haven’t read the comics, this will contain major spoilers! If you want to stay surprised, now’s the time to stop reading. But for those who don’t mind spoilers, or have read the source material, you know Invincible is about to get even more intense. Here are the five biggest storylines the show still needs to cover, including huge battles and a devastating betrayal.

5. The ‘Reboot’

Near the end of the series, Mark connects with an alien who gives him a second chance by sending him back to the start of everything. This allows Invincible to prevent Omni-Man’s devastating attack and avoid other disasters, using his knowledge of what’s to come. However, this new timeline comes with a heartbreaking trade-off: he loses his relationship with Eve and their daughter. While this storyline was divisive among fans, given how closely the show follows the comic, it seems likely this plot will be adapted into at least one episode.

4. The Thragg/Battle Beast Fight

The latest season did a fantastic job of developing Grand Regent Thragg, which sets the stage for what promises to be one of the series’ most epic battles. Battle Beast has long sought a worthy opponent, and he’s finally found one in the ruler of the Viltrumite Empire. This isn’t a quick fight – it unfolded over five comic issues and spanned several days within the story. While it’s unclear if the show will dedicate a single episode or two to three episodes to the battle, fans can definitely expect to see it happen.

3. Anissa’s Assault on Mark

Throughout the series, Anissa, a strong Viltrumite, develops a fixation on Invincible. This obsession, combined with her drive to preserve the Viltrum race, leads her to a violent encounter with Mark, attempting to impregnate him against his will. Given the show’s history of intense scenes, viewers have been concerned about whether this assault will be explicitly shown, as it’s a deeply disturbing event. Due to its significant impact on the storyline, it’s likely the show will depict this difficult moment when it reaches that point.

2. The Final Fight with Thragg

The series is famous for its intense and violent battles, but nothing compares to the ultimate showdown with Thragg. It’s an extended, devastating fight with massive casualties and injuries far worse than anything seen previously. Sadly, some fan-favorite characters won’t survive. While this epic conflict won’t happen until the very end of the final season, prepare for a truly shocking and brutal experience. Fortunately, viewers still have a few seasons before reaching this point.

1. Robot’s Betrayal

The last part of Invincible really centers around the shocking betrayal of Robot. While viewers of the show know he’s currently trapped in the Flaxan dimension, they don’t realize this is what pushes him to believe he can create a perfect world, even if it means taking drastic actions. Seeing Robot transform from a hero into a full-fledged villain is intense and will likely surprise many fans, but it’s sure to be a captivating storyline.
