Fans have been waiting a long time, but the popular Netflix thriller is back! All six episodes of its second season were released on May 7th, marking the first new installments in almost five years. The show became a sensation when it first premiered, with its gripping, dark, and unsettling mystery often compared to classic crime thrillers like Se7en and The Silence of the Lambs.
The Netflix thriller The Chestnut Man is back for a second season. All six episodes of The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek were released on May 7th. Based on Søren Sveistrup’s sequel novel, this season follows detectives Naia Thulin and Mark Hess as they investigate a disturbing new serial killer in Copenhagen who forces his victims to play a deadly game of hide and seek. While connected to the first season, this new installment can also be enjoyed as a standalone story.
Netflix’s The Chestnut Man Is a Perfect Show
Netflix’s The Chestnut Man is a standout series, earning a perfect 100% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The show immediately captivated audiences with its compelling story of two detectives hunting a disturbing serial killer who leaves chestnut dolls at the crime scenes. Its six episodes deliver a complete, suspenseful narrative without unnecessary content, making it ideal for binge-watching. Beyond the thrilling plot, The Chestnut Man is praised for its dark and tense atmosphere, creating a deeply unsettling and immersive psychological experience.
Whether The Chestnut Man Season 2 will live up to the perfect score of its first season is yet to be determined, but initial reviews are promising. All three reviews currently on Rotten Tomatoes are positive. Lacy Baugher of RogerEbert.com says the new season successfully follows the formula that made the first season so good, delivering an intense and atmospheric experience. Felipe Rangel from ScreenRant even calls it one of Netflix’s best shows ever and a standout foreign series on the platform.
Will There Be a The Chestnut Man Season 3?
It’s unclear if The Chestnut Man will return for a third season. Netflix hasn’t decided whether to renew or cancel the show, and because Hide and Seek is the most recent book in the series by the author, there aren’t any other books available to make into a season right now.
