Bungo Stray Dogs is a popular action series with supernatural elements, created by writer Kafka Asagiri and artist Sango Harukawa. It first appeared as a manga in 2012 in Young Ace magazine, and in 2016, Studio Bones adapted it into an anime. The anime quickly gained fans worldwide, and over the last ten years, the franchise has expanded to include five seasons, a movie, and spin-off stories. The most recent season premiered in 2023, but it hasn’t been officially announced whether Atsushi and the other characters will face new challenges in a sixth season.
I’ve been following this anime, and even though the ending hinted at more to come, the studio hasn’t given us any concrete details about a continuation yet. To keep fans engaged while we wait, they’re celebrating the show’s 10th anniversary with a new website and several announced projects. Good news though – they just confirmed that the second season of Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! will premiere in July 2026 as part of the summer season. It’s been five years since the first season came out in 2021, and while we’re excited for the spin-off, everyone is really hoping to hear about the continuation of the main story soon.
What Is Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! About?

This story is a spin-off of Bungo Stray Dogs, created by Neco Kanai, who has contributed to other Bungo Stray Dogs collections. It follows Atsushi Nakajima after he leaves the orphanage and finds a home at the Armed Detective Agency, thanks to Dazai and Kunikida. The story focuses on Atsushi adjusting to life with his unusual coworkers at the agency.
The story centers on the daily routines of the Armed Detective Agency and their conflicts with the Port Mafia. To make things even more challenging, a powerful organization known as the Guild emerges as a significant threat.
What’s Next For Bungo Stray Dogs?

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the anime, and fans can look forward to some exciting new things! In addition to a special exhibition in Tokyo, a new project has been announced where artist Harukawa will reveal 35 original illustrations while the manga takes a break. The first illustration shows Kyouka with Atsushi, Akutagawa, Dazai, and Chuuya. With the project just starting, more details about the anime are coming soon.
The manga is currently paused after finishing its first story arc, and there’s no news about when it will continue. The first part of the story featured surprising twists, heartbreaking moments, and exciting fights. Fans expect the next part to be just as thrilling. The anime finished its fifth season three years ago and reached the same point as the manga, meaning there’s no more material available to adapt into a sixth season.
While the manga continues the story with plenty more content, there’s no news yet on when or if a new anime season will be made. You can currently watch the original anime series, the movie, and the spin-off on Crunchyroll. The manga currently has 28 published volumes, with 27 available in English. The release date for the 28th volume in English is still unknown.
