6 Coronation Street spoilers next week: Summer Spellman becomes prime suspect in Theo murder investigation

Next week on Coronation Street, the investigation into the recent murder takes a new turn, with Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) becoming a person of interest.

George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) blamed her for Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) death, hoping to protect himself, and is certain she was responsible.

The drama continues with Jodie Ramsey deceiving Daniel Osbourne, leaving him unsure of what she’s up to while he’s being targeted in a nasty online attack. Meanwhile, Will Driscoll gets worried when he learns Megan Walsh has been released on bail and accuses someone else in the neighborhood of wrongdoing.

Elsewhere, there’s some happy news for Roy Cropper (David Neilson) after his café fire.

Here’s a rundown of what’s happening on Coronation Street from Monday, May 18th, to Friday, May 22nd.

6 Coronation Street spoilers for next week

1. George Shuttleworth speaks to the police about Summer Spellman’s lies

Kit told Todd they were getting closer to finding Theo’s killer, and honestly, it really worried Summer. I could see it on her face. Meanwhile, George was freaking out about being suspected and, believe it or not, he stumbled upon something while cleaning that might actually help clear his name.

He clumsily dumped the contents of Summer’s bag, and was shocked to find a journal entry revealing her desire to harm Theo with a gun. He and Christina were still reading it when Summer unexpectedly returned.

Kit was looking through Lisa’s wedding pictures and noticed something important that might suggest Summer is involved.

Okay, so Lisa, now suspicious, brings Summer in for questioning, and things immediately get tense. Todd, predictably, is fiercely protective, declaring her innocence. Meanwhile, George is really digging, trying to get Summer to spill the details about what happened to Theo. And just when you think things can’t get more complicated, we’re hit with a flashback – finally, we see exactly what Summer witnessed that night, and it’s a game changer.

Summer angrily confronts George, believing he’s the one who committed the murder. After hearing Asha and Nina talking about her, Gary intervenes and takes her to the builder’s yard for a calming cup of tea.

Trouble starts again when Christina is discovered lying to the police and pressures George to share what he witnessed with Lisa. George reveals he’s already discussed Summer’s dishonesty with the authorities, and Christina fears the police will soon turn their attention to her as well.

Unbeknownst to them, Summer secretly overheard the entire conversation. Todd was shocked to find her, already packed with a bag, explaining she’d contacted her American university and intended to leave that afternoon to avoid potential arrest.

As the pressure mounts, she remembers a witness who could support her alibi.

Overcome with guilt, George finally admitted to Todd that he’d told Lisa about Summer, and might have made her look like a suspect in Theo’s murder.

2. Will Driscoll spirals following Megan Walsh’s release

Maggie finds herself caught in another complicated lie. When Ben comes home and sees Eva comforting his upset mother, he starts to question if he should forgive Eva’s actions.

Things get even harder when the police call to tell him Megan has been released on bail. He’s further upset when Maggie unexpectedly shows up to a family lunch, and he learns Ollie was the one who invited her.

While they were eating, Ben told Will that Megan was no longer with anyone, which upset Maggie, who vowed to look after Will. But Ben’s anger quickly flared up, and he stunned both Ollie and Will with a shocking announcement.

Will tells Tim he’s struggling with the fact that his abuser has been released on bail. Meanwhile, Ben tries to plan a family vacation, but Susie’s strong family loyalty leads to more problems for the Driscolls.

The situation gets more concerning when Ben learns Will didn’t show up for his PE exam. Bethany finds Will at the police station and, remembering her own past experience of being manipulated by Nathan Curtis, tries to help him open up.

When she touches his hand, Will lashes out and accuses her of touching him inappropriately.

3. Jodie Ramsey is caught out by Daniel Osbourne

Daniel tells Jodie he’s not yet comfortable returning to normal life. Jodie adds that, since his family thinks he’s still in the Lake District, she recently saw Cassie, who mentioned Bertie is really missing him.

Daniel finally goes to pick up his son, but finds Bertie was perfectly content without him. Angry that he was tricked, Daniel then confronts Jodie about her dishonesty.

Nina then shows Daniel and Jodie a string of awful online messages, where someone accuses Daniel of knowing Megan was manipulating Will and even claims he behaved inappropriately towards Summer in the past. Daniel tells Jodie he believes the person posting these things, who goes by the name Truthteller, must be someone he knows.

Jodie noticed David was close by and wondered if he might be responsible. Is she attempting to shift the blame onto him?

Jodie briefly mentioned it was her birthday, and Daniel decided to treat her to lunch at the bistro as a surprise. Nick brought out a cake and everyone sang, but the cheerful moment was ruined when Shona pointed out that Jodie’s birthday is actually in December.

What is her game plan?

4. Sam Blakeman continues to struggle

Sam is deeply upset by the bullying he experienced from Will and Megan, and he’s also worried by Roy’s advice to not trust anyone.

Struggling to process the unsettling advice, Sam is left more confused than ever.

5. Sarah Platt is a cause for concern

Fiz is worried that Sarah’s confidence has been shaken since the attack by Jodie, and she tells Carla about her concerns. Carla agrees and proposes that Michael help Sarah with some of her work, but Sarah is very upset by this suggestion.

Michael steps in to fix an error she makes with a customer’s order, but things escalate when she gets angry, and Carla suggests she needs a break. She goes to the Rovers pub and starts drinking heavily.

6. Roy Cropper is overjoyed to reopen his café

A Weatherfield institution is reopening next week.

The cafe on Coronation Street has been a fixture since 1978. Roy Cropper bought it in 1997 and changed the name to Roy’s Rolls.

Last month brought a devastating loss when a fire, caused by Mal Roper (Tim Treloar) tampering with the electrical system, destroyed the flat. Sadly, this also meant the loss of irreplaceable memories of his late wife, Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh).

Roy is excited to show off the newly renovated café to Fiz and Chesney. But when the photos are revealed, it becomes clear… nothing has actually changed.

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 or can be streamed from 7am on ITVX.
