6 Marvel Villains Who Would Be Perfect Fits For Spider-Man’s Live-Action Show

As a fan of noir and comic books, I’m really excited about Prime Video’s Spider-Man Noir series. It feels like a lot of classic Marvel villains would fit perfectly into this dark, gritty world. The show isn’t shying away from the source material, pulling in both well-known baddies and some deeper cuts from the comics. It’s a promising approach that could really make these villains shine.

Sandman, one of Spider-Man’s classic enemies, is set to be a key character in the show. The series will also feature the villains Tombstone and Silvermane, plus Megawatt, a lesser-known character who originally appeared in a 1993 Spider-Man comic. It’s clear the show isn’t afraid to pull from obscure corners of the Marvel universe and introduce viewers to characters they may not recognize.

The character of Spider-Noir reveals how diverse the villains in the Spider-Man universe can be. Over the years, Spider-Man has faced numerous super-powered enemies, and many of them would fit perfectly into the gritty world of this Spider-Man version. Some already have equivalents in Spider-Man Noir’s universe, while others would need very little adjustment to fit the story.

Beyond considering lesser-known characters for roles in Spider-Noir, Marvel has a wealth of famous Spider-Man villains who haven’t appeared in the movies yet. These characters could greatly enrich the story and universe the new series is planning to create.

6. Black Fox

Black Fox isn’t Spider-Man’s toughest opponent, but he’s a recurring character with a long history of clashes with Peter Parker. Once a famous thief, the now-elderly Black Fox frequently attempts daring robberies, often stopped by Spider-Man. However, Black Fox sometimes finds himself in trouble and needs Spider-Man’s assistance.

Black Fox previously trained Black Cat, which could mean the character will appear in Spider-Noir. The show features its own version of Felicia Hardy, played by Li Jun Li. While it’s currently unknown if this version is a thief like in the comics, the film noir style of Spider-Noir often includes morally ambiguous female characters, suggesting she may not be a law-abiding citizen. As her story develops, we might discover Black Fox played a role in her past.

Black Fox, a Spider-Man character who also works as a private investigator, would be a great fit for a single episode storyline. The plot could involve Ben Reilly taking on a case to solve a series of strange thefts, which eventually lead him to the trail of a well-known cat burglar.

5. The Disruptor

Richard Raleigh, also known as The Disruptor, was a villain similar to Megawatt who appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #117 in 1972. He was a corrupt politician running for mayor of New York City. Secretly involved with organized crime, Raleigh used a creature called Man-Monster to create a plan to deceive the public and gain their support.

The world of Spider-Noir is filled with crooked politicians who are often connected to criminals, so it’s very believable that a character like Richard Raleigh could appear. He could easily be written in as the mayor, or someone running for mayor, who is secretly controlled by Silvermane.

4. Man Mountain Marko

A new look at the Spider-Noir series reveals that Tombstone and Sandman will be working for Brendan Gleeson’s character, Silvermane. They’re likely to be his main assistants, but considering Silvermane’s history as a powerful crime lord in Marvel Comics, he probably has many other followers we haven’t met yet.

Man Mountain Marko is a long-time adversary of Spider-Man, first appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #73 back in 1969. Known for his incredible strength – comparable to Spider-Man’s – he initially worked as a top aide to the villain Silvermane. While never becoming a major, well-known villain, Man Mountain Marko has fought many heroes over the years, including Spider-Man, Luke Cage, and Daredevil, giving him a substantial number of appearances in comics.

Man Mountain Marko is a powerful and intimidating villain, and a natural fit for the Spider-Noir story, given his role as a key enforcer for the main antagonist.

3. White Dragon

While a martial arts villain in a dragon mask might seem unusual for the gritty world of Spider-Noir, White Dragon would actually be a fitting choice. First appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #184 in 1978, he leads the Dragon Lords, a Chinatown gang, and has a history as a Spider-Man foe.

As a big fan of Spider-Noir, I’ve noticed Silvermane’s constantly dodging assassination attempts, which tells me we’re definitely going to see some serious gang warfare. If rivals are trying to take him out to grab control of the criminal world, it makes sense that the story will show us who else is pulling the strings. I’m really hoping that includes the Dragon Lords of Chinatown – they’re a powerful group, and it would be awesome to see them involved!

2. The Enforcers

The Enforcers are a classic group of Spider-Man villains who first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #10 back in 1963. This trio – Ox, Montana, and Fancy Dan – work as hired muscle for New York City’s criminal gangs. Each member has a unique skill: Ox provides brute strength, Montana uses a lasso like a cowboy, and Fancy Dan is an expert in martial arts. Their activities frequently put them on Spider-Man’s radar.

Given the significant role organized crime appears to play in Spider-Noir’s story, the Enforcers would be a natural fit for the show. They could be hired by Silvermane as hitmen to eliminate Ben Reilly (played by Nicolas Cage) if his inquiries become troublesome. Another possibility is that they were responsible for one of the attempts to assassinate Silvermane himself.

1. Hammerhead

Hammerhead is a classic Spider-Man villain who hasn’t yet appeared in the movies. He’s been a recurring enemy of Peter Parker in the comics for decades, often involved in stories about organized crime. He first showed up in 1972’s The Amazing Spider-Man #112 as a tough criminal with a specially-designed metal head.

Considering all the live-action Spider-Man movies and shows made so far, none would be a better fit for introducing the character Hammerhead – and it’s not just because he’s a crime boss. Hammerhead’s personality and style, both in the comics, are heavily influenced by the gangsters of the 1930s, making a certain setting ideal for his debut.

The comics explained Hammerhead’s old-fashioned character by revealing he had amnesia. He forgot his past and created his current persona after seeing a poster for a gangster movie from the 1930s. However, because the Spider-Noir series takes place during that same time period, there’s no need to explain his personality or look within that story.
