After a significant story change, Daredevil: Born Again became a central part of the more grounded side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, essentially continuing the story of The Defenders. The first season was a hit with both critics and viewers, successfully blending the darker style of the original streaming series with the larger Marvel movie universe, though it did have some issues with the speed of the plot. Marvel Television was so impressed with this success that they quickly approved a third season—even before all of the second season’s episodes had aired—showing how important Daredevil is to the future of the MCU. The current airing of the second season is proving their confidence was well-placed, as it’s delivering compelling stories that are even more popular than the first season of Daredevil: Born Again.
Beyond the main storyline, Daredevil: Born Again cleverly brings back beloved characters from the show’s past, keeping the emotional connections strong for longtime fans. Familiar faces like Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, and Frank Castle all reappear, while characters like Josie, Benjamin Poindexter, and Vanessa Fisk add complexity to the power struggles in Hell’s Kitchen as they either support or oppose Wilson Fisk. This approach makes Daredevil: Born Again a central meeting point for the city’s heroes and villains, and many more returns are expected throughout the series.
6) Kate Bishop

Jack Duquesne’s unfair imprisonment and trial in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 are setting the stage for his return as a key character in the MCU. As viewers saw in Hawkeye, Kate Bishop initially distrusted Duquesne, suspecting him of wrongdoing, but later learned he was a pawn in a larger scheme involving Eleanor Bishop and Kingpin. Now, falsely accused and facing a biased psychiatric evaluation, Duquesne’s situation gives Kate both a personal connection and a strong reason to fight back. Kate Bishop, an archer who previously encountered Kingpin and hasn’t been prominently featured since Hawkeye, logically joins the conflict in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
5) Elektra

With The Hand set to appear in the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline, many believe Elektra (Élodie Yung) will return in Daredevil: Born Again. As the last known leader of The Hand after The Defenders, her involvement would maintain story consistency. Rumors from 2025 suggested Yung filmed scenes for the series, fueled by her own cryptic social media posts showing training and a devil emoji. Elektra’s story in Daredevil Season 2 and The Defenders felt unfinished, and bringing her back as a complex ally to Matt Murdock—rather than just a pawn of The Hand—could create a fascinating relationship and add a lot of depth to the series.
4) Claire Temple

Throughout the first five episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, references to Claire Temple (played by Rosario Dawson) have become increasingly clear. The season started by mentioning Metro-General Hospital, where she worked during the previous Netflix series, and then Daredevil directly suggested a nurse who could help an injured Bullseye without involving the task force targeting vigilantes. With Kingpin cracking down on healthcare for those connected to the resistance, Claire’s medical skills would be incredibly valuable. Rosario Dawson has previously said she’d love to return to the role, and her current work with Disney on Ahsoka makes it easier to fit her into the show’s schedule.
3) Danny Rand

Photos from the set of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, published by The Wrap in April 2026, revealed that Finn Jones will reprise his role as Danny Rand/Iron Fist. The images showed Jones alongside Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter, marking the first time the three actors have been seen together in costume since The Defenders concluded in 2017. Jones also confirmed his return by responding to a post on Colter’s Instagram. This timing is significant because Spider-Man: Brand New Day has established The Hand as a major threat, and Iron Fist’s backstory in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is closely tied to that organization. If Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 incorporates this storyline, it will give Rand a clear reason to rejoin the MCU.
2) Luke Cage

As a huge fan, I was so excited to see the set photos confirming Danny Rand’s return! But even better, they also showed Mike Colter is back as Luke Cage for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. Everyone immediately noticed Luke’s costume – a yellow shirt and black vest. For comic fans, that instantly meant Luke Cage as the mayor of New York, which is exactly what happened after the ‘Devil’s Reign’ storyline. It’s cool to see the show is still pulling from that arc! And, Mike Colter posted (and quickly deleted) a picture of Charlie Cox as Daredevil in an orange prison outfit. That definitely hints that things are going to get really tough for Murdock before Luke Cage shows up to help restore some balance to the streets.
1) Jessica Jones

The return of Jessica Jones is a major highlight of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Krysten Ritter will appear in three episodes, making her a key character throughout the season’s conclusion. A recent trailer revealed that Jessica now has a daughter, mirroring the comics where her child, Danielle Cage, is the daughter she shares with Luke Cage – a connection supported by set photos confirming Luke Cage’s return. Jessica Jones was a critical success during Netflix’s Marvel shows, and bringing Ritter back suggests Daredevil: Born Again will be the true continuation of the entire Defenders story.
