I’ve always been fascinated by Thanos, and honestly, he’s one of the most terrifying villains I’ve ever encountered in comics. It’s not just *what* he does, but *why*. He’s a true nihilist – he doesn’t crave power for himself, but to erase everything. He doesn’t want to rule or conquer; he genuinely believes the universe should simply *not be*. That’s what makes him so frightening – he’s powerful enough to actually try and make that happen. He’s not just a threat to heroes; he’s a monster that even other villains would fear.
Even in the DC Universe, Thanos would still be a major threat. While the heroes would oppose him, many of DC’s villains wouldn’t welcome his arrival and would fight him as well. Though a few DC villains could actually beat Thanos, these seven wouldn’t be able to withstand his incredible power.
7) The Batman Who Laughs
The Batman Who Laughs is a remarkably powerful villain in the DC Universe, blending Batman’s intelligence with the Joker’s madness. He’s incredibly dangerous – on his own Earth, he managed to kill everyone! He’s even threatened the entire community of superpowered individuals. However, Thanos would easily defeat him. The Batman Who Laughs excels because he understands the weaknesses of DC’s heroes and villains, knowledge he wouldn’t have against Thanos. Facing Thanos, he’s essentially just a very clever human, making for a quick and brutal fight that Thanos would definitively win.
6) Mordru
The Legion of Superheroes is a famous team known for fighting incredible villains, and Mordru is one of their most powerful foes. Mordru is an ancient and immensely powerful magic user, a being of chaos who has even clashed with modern-day heroes. While Mordru’s magic grants him many abilities, he’s still no match for Thanos. Thanos is simply stronger, and his cosmic powers are incredibly dangerous. Mordru would put up a fight, but it’s unlikely his magic could actually harm Thanos. It would be an impressive battle, but Thanos’s overwhelming power, invulnerability, and sheer ruthlessness would likely give him the win.
5) Ares
Okay, so Wonder Woman’s villains aren’t always the most powerful, but Ares is definitely a threat. As a god of war, he’s got the strength to even challenge someone like Thanos, I think. But honestly, Thanos *beats* gods regularly. Ares would definitely give him a good fight, but Thanos has fought Thor, and that’s a whole different level of power. Thor has so many ways to attack, while Ares is mostly a close-combat fighter. Thanos could hit Ares with energy blasts from far away before Ares even got close, and that range advantage, combined with his sheer strength, would be too much for Ares. I think Thanos would just overwhelm him and ultimately win.
4) Deathstroke
Deathstroke is a well-known and incredibly dangerous villain in the DC Universe. While he’s physically enhanced and a super soldier, his true strength lies in his intelligence. He’s capable of strategizing against almost any hero, but Thanos presents a completely different challenge. Thanos is simply on another level of power, and that would be the deciding factor. Even with his advanced Ikon suit – which uses gravity as a weapon – it’s unlikely Deathstroke could win. The mercenary isn’t equipped to face someone as overwhelmingly powerful and brutal as Thanos, and the Mad Titan would ultimately defeat him.
3) Sinestro
Sinestro is Hal Jordan’s greatest enemy and a remarkably powerful being. He’s incredibly skilled with his power ring, and the yellow ring of fear makes him a dangerous opponent. However, even Sinestro would be outmatched by Thanos. Thanos has the strength to injure gods and other cosmic entities – a level of power Sinestro doesn’t possess. Thanos could easily shatter Sinestro’s energy constructs and would immediately attack, unleashing a barrage of powerful blows that would keep Sinestro constantly defending. Ultimately, Thanos’s overwhelming strength and fury would prove too much for Sinestro to handle.
2) Reverse Flash
While Reverse Flash is incredibly powerful and could potentially beat Thanos, his personality flaws would likely lead to his downfall. Reverse Flash is a supremely confident, even arrogant, speedster, and he’d probably underestimate Thanos, treating the battle like a game. This would be a fatal mistake. Thanos is far too dangerous to toy with, and he’d quickly exploit Reverse Flash’s overconfidence. The fight might start with Reverse Flash dominating, but it would ultimately end with him losing and being defeated by Thanos.
1) Gorilla Grodd
Okay, let’s talk about a hypothetical showdown: Gorilla Grodd versus Thanos. Grodd is a serious threat – incredibly strong, brilliantly intelligent, and with mind-reading powers that could mess with almost anyone. He’s a brutal fighter who can take a beating. But honestly? Thanos would win, and it wouldn’t be close. Thanos is just on another level – stronger, faster, tougher, and wielding cosmic power that’s far beyond anything Grodd can dish out. What’s more, Thanos has trained his mind to resist psychic attacks, he’s even taken on beings with incredibly powerful minds like the Phoenix Force. Grodd would definitely give it his all, but Thanos is simply too powerful and once he gained the upper hand, I don’t see Grodd recovering.
