Everyone always compares Homelander from The Boys to Superman, but it’s like imagining Superman with absolutely no conscience. He’s the strongest ‘supe’ around, even stronger than Soldier Boy! Honestly, the only way to truly take him down is to find something that can strip him of his powers – kind of like Kryptonite for Superman. But, if you took Homelander out of The Boys universe and put him against some of the villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I think a lot of them could actually beat him, no problem.
Let’s explore seven Marvel Cinematic Universe villains who could defeat Homelander if he crossed over into their world.
7) Ego the Living Planet
Homelander is extremely powerful and a major threat within The Boys universe, capable of defeating groups of other superpowered individuals and proving very difficult to defeat. However, he’s significantly weaker than Omni-Man from Invincible, who has battled incredibly powerful Celestial beings as equals. Ego the Living Planet is one such Celestial, and in his planet-sized form, he would easily overpower Homelander. While Homelander might be able to infiltrate Ego like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ego’s ability to endanger entire star systems means the fight wouldn’t be close – Ego would win easily.
6) Thanos
Okay, let’s talk power levels. On a purely physical level, I honestly think Homelander could take down Thanos – maybe even beat him. But that’s if it’s a fair fight. The second Thanos gets those Infinity Stones in play? It’s a total blowout. We saw what he did to Thor – a god – and Homelander just doesn’t operate on that same scale. Remember how Thanos manhandled Hulk in Infinity War? Hulk is demonstrably more powerful than Homelander. Thanos regularly fights beings of incredible power, and frankly, Homelander just isn’t used to that level of opposition. Plus, let’s not forget Thanos is a strategic genius. He’d analyze Homelander’s abilities and have a plan to win before the first punch was even thrown. Homelander’s raw power is impressive, but it’s no match for Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet – or even without it, honestly.
5) Cassandra Nova
Homelander excels in battles against typical superheroes and villains. His powers – super speed, strength, and flight – aren’t enough to challenge him, and he can easily defeat most supes. However, Cassandra Nova presents a different kind of threat. As a uniquely powerful mutant telepath – even stronger than her brother, Professor X – she could dismantle Homelander’s already fragile mental state. She could trap him in a psychic illusion and mentally destroy him, and because she can become intangible, Homelander wouldn’t even be able to physically fight back.
4) Galactus
A fight between Homelander and Galactus wouldn’t be a complete mismatch. Homelander is powerful enough to hurt Galactus with a direct, forceful attack, but it wouldn’t be enough to defeat him. Galactus is an ancient cosmic being, far older than the universe as we know it, and in Marvel comics, he’s never been killed by a single human. Galactus could likely survive most of Homelander’s attacks, even if bruised, and a single blast of his Power Cosmic would instantly defeat Homelander. In fact, Galactus might even try to recruit Homelander as a herald, though that would be catastrophic for everyone.
3) Dormammu
Homelander wouldn’t stand a chance against Dormammu. Even a weakened Dormammu is far more powerful. Doctor Strange, a very powerful hero, couldn’t defeat Dormammu with force – he had to use a trick. Homelander relies on physical strength, which wouldn’t be effective against a being who can warp reality and essentially erase Homelander from existence before he can even attack.
2) The Void
If Homelander from The Boys somehow ended up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a few heroes could defeat him. One of the most likely victors is Sentry, who many consider to be Marvel’s strongest and most dangerous character. Sentry is incredibly powerful on his own, but when he transforms into the Void, his dark side, he becomes capable of destroying entire planets. Sentry already possesses the power of a million exploding suns, and the Void has no moral limits. If Homelander were to attack the Void, he would be instantly vaporized, ending the fight immediately.
1) Scarlet Witch
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, nothing could defeat the Scarlet Witch except her own internal struggles with grief and mental health after losing everything she cared about. Ultimately, she chose to destroy herself rather than live with the immense pain that transformed her from a hero into a formidable villain. Her magical abilities, amplified by the Darkhold’s dark magic, made her too powerful even for Doctor Strange. Wanda wields chaos magic, allowing her to alter reality itself. Given Homelander’s already unstable ego, Wanda could easily shatter him mentally before overpowering him with her magic. Despite Homelander’s strength in The Boys, he wouldn’t stand a chance against a determined Scarlet Witch in the MCU.
