Since 1938, DC Comics has consistently delivered incredible superhero stories, building a reputation for quality that’s hard to beat. They essentially created the modern superhero comic book and have continued to innovate for nearly a century. Their characters—many now famous around the world—have become iconic figures. Over the decades, fans have witnessed these heroes face unbelievable challenges, overcoming threats that could destroy everything. These epic wins have cemented their place in popular culture, turning them into true legends.
DC’s heroes are known for incredible feats, but some triumphs stand out more than others, truly defining their legendary status. Here are the most significant victories of DC’s seven most beloved heroes – moments that prove why they’re considered the very best.
7) Hal Jordan

Hal Jordan is arguably the most well-known Green Lantern, and his comics once sold better than any others. This success began with the story Green Lantern: Rebirth, which reintroduced Jordan and the traditional Green Lantern universe. This story also gave him his biggest win: even while acting as the powerful Spectre, he fought off control from his enemies, Sinestro and Parallax. When Parallax then possessed the cosmic being Ganthet, Jordan was crucial in defeating this new, terrifying combination of power and fear. Having been tormented by Parallax for years, Jordan’s victory over it was a defining moment, solidifying his place as the greatest Green Lantern of all time.
6) Wally West

Wally West eventually surpassed both Barry Allen and Jay Garrick to become the most powerful Flash. But it wasn’t easy – his biggest test came with the return of Barry Allen, who shockingly turned out to be a villain fueled by jealousy. This ‘Barry’ was actually the Reverse Flash, traveling back in time and disguising himself to try and claim Barry’s heroic identity. Wally had to push his abilities to the limit to defeat this incredibly powerful enemy. This victory unleashed a new level of power within him, setting the stage for him to become an even greater hero than his uncle.
5) Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn has become a fan-favorite character in comics, and one of her biggest achievements is a particularly meaningful one. It wasn’t a quick win – she struggled for a long time – but it was incredibly important. Harley first gained attention as the Joker’s partner, and she was caught in a deeply unhealthy relationship with him. Despite the physical and emotional abuse she endured, she repeatedly returned to him. Eventually, she found the strength to leave for good, and her life has dramatically improved. She’s now found genuine happiness with Poison Ivy and has become a reliable hero, though she still has a playful, unpredictable side.
4) Nightwing

Nightwing has become one of DC’s top heroes. After his time as Robin, he started the Teen Titans and later led the Titans as well, all while safeguarding the city of Bludhaven and earning the trust of heroes everywhere. While he’s always achieved great things, his biggest accomplishments have come recently. When the Justice League appeared to be defeated before the events of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, Nightwing stepped up to lead the remaining heroes against Deathstroke and his army. In a final showdown, he defeated Deathstroke – who was empowered by a powerful darkness – by channeling the power of hope and light. This victory allowed him to restore the stability of the multiverse, bringing back the many different Earths that once existed.
3) Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman, a legendary Amazonian warrior with countless wins, truly proved her heroism in Dark Knights: Death Metal. She cleverly tricked Perpetua and the Batman Who Laughs into letting her manage their prison, all while secretly devising a plan to save the entire Multiverse. Unlike Batman, who was focused on saving only a portion of reality, Wonder Woman risked everything to save it all. This led her to gain the power necessary to confront the incredibly powerful Darkest Knight—the Batman Who Laughs infused with the power of Doctor Manhattan. She defeated him and then used that power to rebuild the Multiverse, which he and Perpetua had corrupted, ultimately creating the even larger Omniverse—a collection of countless multiverses.
2) Batman

Batman is Gotham City’s primary defender and a key member of the Justice League. He’s battled countless enemies, but his fight against Darkseid’s scheme in Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne truly stands out. Darkseid used the Omega Sanction to send Batman back to the dawn of humanity, chasing him through time with a device called the Hyper-Adapter. The plan was for Batman to absorb Omega energy and become a destructive force that would erase reality upon his return. Fortunately, with assistance from Tim Drake, Booster Gold, Rip Hunter, and his allies, Batman foiled Darkseid’s plot and saved everything from the villain’s final, desperate attack.
1) Superman

Superman is DC Comics’ most iconic hero, and he’s won countless famous battles. But his recent victory might be his biggest yet. In the DC K.O. storyline, Earth’s heroes competed in the King Omega tournament, with the prize being the power to fight Darkseid, a supremely powerful villain threatening all of reality. Though it appeared Lex Luthor won, Superman, aided by Time Trapper and Doomsday, managed to claim the title of King Omega himself. He then fought Darkseid across all of time and space, ultimately winning by allowing his friends to help. Superman saved the entire multiverse from destruction, though he had to leave his friends temporarily to repair the damage caused by Darkseid’s actions.
