The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of characters with incredible powers, but those powers aren’t unlimited. Starting with its first film in 2008, the MCU has grown to include a huge number of characters from Marvel Comics. Many of these characters are exceptionally powerful and pose a serious threat. While each one has their own unique strengths, some have proven to be particularly tough, durable, and nearly impossible to defeat.
It’s hard to say what makes an MCU character feel truly unkillable, as it differs from case to case. Surprisingly, even characters who aren’t all-powerful can seem impossible to defeat thanks to their unique abilities. Here’s a look at some MCU characters who consistently manage to survive, whether through their powers or unusual biology.
7) Nebula
Nebula is a unique villain-turned-hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ultimately opposing her adoptive father, Thanos, and joining forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers. Her history makes her incredibly resilient – she endured Thanos’ harsh and extensive experiments to become a powerful cyborg. It’s not a single superpower that makes Nebula so tough, but a combination of her well-developed skills and incredible determination, giving the impression she’s nearly impossible to defeat.
6) Groot
Groot is a fan favorite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not just as a great sidekick, but as a genuinely lovable alien character. He’s won over audiences with his dancing, and has repeatedly proven incredibly resilient – almost impossible to kill! In Guardians of the Galaxy, he survived a brutal attack from Ronan the Accuser, empowered by the Power Stone, and was able to regenerate. Groot’s unique abilities and biology consistently demonstrate just how tough he is.
5) Wolverine
Now that Wolverine has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’s quickly proven to be incredibly hard to defeat. While fans haven’t seen everything he can do yet, his famous healing ability – almost as well-known as his adamantium claws – means he can recover from injuries that would kill most heroes. This combination of resilience, a long lifespan, and rapid healing makes Wolverine one of the most unkillable characters in the MCU.
4) Deadpool
Deadpool has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having traveled from another reality. Known for his incredibly fast healing and skilled fighting abilities, he’s a formidable opponent. Though he doesn’t always win, Deadpool is nearly impossible to defeat, always bouncing back to continue the battle.

The Hulk first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008, making him the longest-running hero in the franchise. While famous for his incredible strength, his transformations also make him virtually indestructible. Many of the best Hulk moments showcase him battling powerful enemies, but his unique physiology gives him a level of toughness that makes him one of the MCU’s hardest characters to defeat.
2) Wonder Man
Wonder Man is a relatively new hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but like many others, he seems impossible to kill. In the comics, his power over ionic energy makes him effectively immortal, and the MCU version appears to work the same way. First appearing in Agatha All Along, Death is one of the most powerful characters the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever presented. As the literal personification of death and decay, she cannot be killed by any means imaginable. Her very nature, combined with her immense power and control over all death in the MCU, makes the idea of defeating her impossible. This makes her arguably the most unkillable character in the entire franchise.
