7 Superheroes Who Could Beat Homelander, Ranked By How Easy It Would Be

The final episodes of the popular Prime Video series The Boys arrive this Wednesday, bringing an end to the seven-year story and finally showing the consequences of the villain Homelander’s actions. Created by the powerful corporation Vought through the drug V1, Homelander was designed to be their perfect, all-American superhero—and the most powerful one on Earth. But beneath the surface, he’s a truly monstrous person. For five seasons, Homelander has used his immense power and cruelty to get away with bullying and killing, without facing any repercussions. Interestingly, despite being the strongest character in The Boys, he wouldn’t stand a chance against many of the traditional superheroes the show parodies.

Homelander is incredibly powerful – he can lift and throw fighter jets, fly faster than the speed of sound, survive a nuclear blast, and obliterate people with his super-powered scream or heat vision. He’s easily defeated other strong Supers. However, despite his power, he’d be outmatched if he entered universes like DC, Marvel, or Image Comics, where even more powerful beings exist.

7) Invincible

As a huge fan of superhero shows, I’ve been really impressed with both The Boys and Invincible on Prime Video. While The Boys is great, Invincible actually features a hero who’s legitimately more powerful than Homelander. Seriously, Mark Grayson—aka Invincible—is a human-Viltrumite hybrid who’s taken down some unbelievably strong opponents, like Conquest and even Grand Regent Thragg. We’re talking speeds way faster than light, surviving the surface of the sun, and helping to destroy a planet! Homelander’s sonic scream might throw Invincible off balance for a moment, but it wouldn’t be enough to actually hurt him. Once Invincible got his bearings, he’d absolutely defeat Homelander, no contest.

6) Iron Man

While Homelander has natural superpowers, Tony Stark’s intelligence and collection of Iron Man suits would give him a significant advantage. A typical Iron Man suit might have trouble with Homelander’s strength and heat vision, but Tony always has other suits ready to deploy instantly. He could use the Hulkbuster for a powerful physical fight, the Prime Armor with its advanced technology, or even the Godbuster to completely destroy Homelander. Importantly, Tony doesn’t even need to be in these suits – he can control them remotely, creating an unbeatable force against Vought’s strongest hero. Homelander would be furious to be defeated by someone without powers.

5) Booster Gold

Homelander craves adoration and pretends to be a hero, but surprisingly, Booster Gold could actually beat him. While Booster is often seen as a comical character, his advanced suit and technology are incredibly powerful. His force field is strong enough to withstand attacks from even Doomsday and the destruction of the planet, meaning Homelander’s punches and heat vision wouldn’t even faze him. Booster could also trap Homelander in his force field and completely crush him. Plus, Booster is a skilled time traveler, allowing him to call in reinforcements from different points in time – multiple versions of himself – to fight Homelander. He could even go back in time and prevent Homelander from ever existing.

4) Captain Marvel

In the world of The Boys, Homelander is incredibly powerful, but he’s never fought anyone on a cosmic scale. Captain Marvel, from Marvel Comics, is a top-tier interstellar hero capable of destroying asteroids, traveling faster than light, and battling opponents like Thanos. While Captain Marvel is far more powerful than Homelander, her key ability is absorbing energy. Homelander relies heavily on his heat vision, but every attempt to harm Captain Marvel with it only makes her stronger. Conversely, Captain Marvel’s energy blasts would completely obliterate Homelander.

3) Ghost Rider

In the world of The Boys, there’s no magic, which means Homelander wouldn’t be able to handle Ghost Rider’s powers. Ghost Rider, as the Spirit of Vengeance, is nearly indestructible to normal attacks and can only be harmed by sacred weapons – rendering Homelander’s abilities ineffective. Even worse, Homelander has no way to defend against Ghost Rider’s Penance Stare, which forces someone to feel all the pain they’ve inflicted on others. Given Homelander’s history of cruelty, that stare would be devastating. Homelander might see himself as a god, but Ghost Rider would quickly prove him wrong with a taste of true hellfire.

2) Wonder Woman

Homelander, with his deceitful, hateful, and cruel nature, wouldn’t last a moment against Wonder Woman. She’s proven capable of incredible feats – she’s helped support the planet, moved faster than anything imaginable, and even defeated a mind-controlled, enraged Superman. Homelander simply wouldn’t be able to compete. Unlike Homelander, who relies solely on raw power and has never received formal training, Wonder Woman is a highly skilled martial artist, honed over centuries by the greatest warriors of Themyscira. Combined with her atomic-splitting sword, she’d quickly defeat Homelander in a direct confrontation.

1) Superman

Homelander from ‘The Boys’ is clearly a take on Superman, but he doesn’t even compare to the real deal. Though they seem to have similar powers, Superman is vastly more powerful. Superman has performed feats like holding a black hole, surviving planetary impacts, lifting an impossibly heavy book, and even destroying entire universes with one punch. Beyond raw power, Superman is much more skilled and precise with his abilities, allowing him to easily outmaneuver and exploit Homelander’s flaws. Superman could defeat Homelander effortlessly, maybe even with a simple gesture. Sometimes, the original truly is better.
