Creating a TV series is more challenging than it may seem. The scripts must be well-written, actors must perform exceptionally, and everyone behind the scenes needs to stay focused. Even when the team is working at its best, there are external factors like studio interference or fan reactions that can disrupt a show’s continuity. Yet, it’s amazing when a series manages to maintain quality throughout its entire duration, providing impactful scenes and compelling storylines. However, amidst all the hard work, there’s always room for cast and crew to enjoy their time on set.
In numerous instances, actors spontaneously deliver memorable phrases during their performances, yet this isn’t the sole occasion when they deviate from the script. Priceless TV scenes often emerge when actors momentarily lose their on-screen personas amidst a take, and these unscripted moments end up being included in the final version of the show.
1) Mila Kunis (That ’70s Show)
In the sitcom That ’70s Show, Red and Kitty Forman generously invite their son’s friends over, which often leads to mischief and chaos. During Season 6, Kitty, Donna, and Jackie venture together into a strip club, making it difficult for any of them to maintain control of their emotions. Mila Kunis struggles more than her co-stars, collapsing in laughter when Debra Jo Rupp dances with a male entertainer on stage.
2) Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul)
In the television series Better Call Saul, Jimmy McGill and Kim Wexler’s relationship is complex due to Jimmy’s propensity for getting into mischief. However, Kim finds Jimmy’s wit more endearing than many others. During Season 2’s opening scene, as they both brush their teeth, Jimmy uses Kim’s finger for flossing and quips, “Wait till you see what I floss with.” Actress Rhea Seehorn, who plays Kim, couldn’t help but laugh when Bob Odenkirk, the actor portraying Jimmy, delivered that line.
3) Idris Elba (The Office)
In the TV show “The Office”, Michael Scott from Dunder Mifflin dislikes it when the corporate office assigns Charles Miner, portrayed by Idris Elba, to oversee him. This leads to him quitting and establishing the Michael Scott Paper Company. Notably, David Wallace, the CEO, visits this branch to meet with Charles, and everyone greets him warmly, even Kevin who takes a moment before joining in. As Brian Baumgartner finishes delivering his line as Kevin, Elba can’t help but smile.
4) Mindy Kaling (The Office)
On The Office, Baumgartner isn’t limited to just breaking Elba’s character; during Michael’s attempt to prove he’s the best choice for Santa, Kevin hops onto his lap and makes all kinds of requests. Mindy Kaling, watching in the background, chuckles as her character’s superior is put in a tough spot trying to support Kevin. Even Ed Helms can’t help but laugh, though he steps out of view to avoid any potential disturbances.
5) Jennifer Aniston (Friends)
In the TV show “Friends,” Ross Geller from the gang often believes he can do many things. At some point, he decides to learn bagpipes and shares his newfound hobby with his buddies. However, when Phoebe Buffay starts singing alongside him, their composure crumbles. In spite of attempting to muffle her laughter, Jennifer Aniston cannot contain herself during the amusing scene, bursting out in a fit of giggles.
6) Ryan Gosling (Saturday Night Live)
Performing a live broadcast implies that there’s no opportunity to make adjustments or corrections. Nevertheless, the Saturday Night Live cast members strive hard to prevent any mistakes. Interestingly, hosts such as Ryan Gosling are renowned for chuckling during their appearances, particularly when Kate McKinnon begins discussing her alien encounters in the “Close Encounters” sketches.
7) RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad)
In Breaking Bad Season 1, there’s some discussion about whether Walt Jr.’s actions indicate he might laugh when Uncle grabs cheese during Walter’s intervention. It could just be that he’s uneasy at such a grave situation, but RJ Mitte, the actor playing Walt Jr., skillfully conceals his face in a manner suggesting suppressed laughter. Regardless, Walt Jr.’s reaction effectively eases the tension.
