As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but ponder over the fascinating tale behind Sharon Stone’s iconic role in Basic Instinct. She herself confides that she almost missed out on the part due to a conversation at Cannes Film Festival, yet Michael Douglas, the man himself, confesses he can’t recall ever meeting her before the production of this steamy thriller began.

The representative clarified that it was during Paul Verhoeven’s audition for Sharon in ‘Basic Instinct’ that he first encountered her. He reportedly remarked to the director, “She’s the one,” upon seeing her.

She clarified that they indeed moved it outdoors, where she shared her viewpoint. Noting their separation, she added that it was done amicably between them.

Absolutely, it’s quite possible that the actress referred to as “Silver” suggested there could be multiple explanations why Douglas might have been hesitant about having her as his co-star at first.

Michael Douglas was hesitant about exposing himself on-screen without a well-known actor alongside him, as she pointed out. I could certainly relate to his apprehension.

Stone thinks that the pair initially had a misunderstanding, but their initial encounter on screen produced fantastic chemistry.

The situation turned out wonderfully for me since I remained calm when he got angry. It proved effective between us. Over time, we grew incredibly close and are still good friends today. I hold him in high regard.
