For the very first time, Bradley Johnson discusses the storyline surrounding his Emmerdale character, Vinny Dingle’s sexuality, and hints at a chilling development coming up in the next week.
In June, it took both him and us by surprise when Vinny attempted to kiss Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah), even though he was betrothed to Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).
As Vinny attempted to suppress his concerns, deflecting Kammy’s queries, he eventually found himself seeking explanations for his unfamiliar emotions on the internet.
However, although Vinny encounters a man named Mike who appears sympathetic while Vinny grapples with his sexual identity, things are not what they seem, as Mike ultimately uses this situation to extort Vinny.
All of a sudden, there’s a noticeable change in Mike’s demeanor and tone. He begins speaking harshly and hurtfully towards Vinny, leaving Vinny puzzled and asking, “What’s happening here?
The actor stated, “He severely assaults Vinny. The attack is extremely brutal, leaving Vinny unconscious on the ground. This violent incident triggers memories for him of his past experiences with Paul, his abusive father.
Mike has threatened to reveal a secret to Gabby unless he receives £10K. What I find particularly cruel is that Mike has secretly recorded Vinny during all their meetings.
Whenever Vinny is on the floor, fearful and exposed, he listens to this recording again, and it seems like his entire world crumbles before our eyes.
We’ll have to wait and see if anyone can come to Vinny’s rescue.
In the meantime, Johnson has shared his initial reaction to his alter ego’s new path.
Initially, when I learned about their decision regarding Vinny, it took me by surprise because I hadn’t anticipated them taking that particular path.
“But once Sophie and Laura told me the storyline, it was quite exciting!” he added.
In my opinion, Vinny’s experiences with Liv in the past make for an intriguing tale about a perplexed young man.
In 2022, Vinny’s beloved wife Liv (portrayed by Isobel Steele) passed away. However, Vinny clarified that this fresh chapter of his life does not lessen his enduring affection for her.
In the forthcoming narrative, my character expresses a line that goes something like, “I truly loved Liv,” suggesting it might be the first time Vinny has experienced such deep affection for someone.
Given that Liv has an asexual character, it leaves one wondering if he admired Liv for her femininity or for her unique personality.
Previewing upcoming events, Johnson expressed his enthusiasm by saying, “I believe it will be surprising, moving, and thrilling for the viewers; therefore, I can’t wait!
