Fans speculate that a well-known Marvel villain’s costume might appear in the upcoming “Spider-Man 4” based on a new photo from actor Michael Mando. Previously, fans had learned bits and pieces about “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” but the identity of the villains remained unclear (or at least not publicly disclosed). However, as filming for the movie began in Glasgow, Scotland, the mystery surrounding the antagonist started to clear up when it was confirmed that Mando would reprise his role as Scorpion in the franchise.
As a dedicated film enthusiast, I eagerly recall the tantalizing appearance of Mando in the post-credits scene from 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. His entrance then seemed to foreshadow a potential formidable foe for Tom Holland’s Spidey in an upcoming project. Now, with Destin Daniel Cretton’s street-level Spidey tale unfolding nearly a decade later, the prophecy is becoming a reality!
However, the buzz surrounding Mando’s return has sparked much speculation about his attire in this film. With the confirmation of Mac Gargan coming back, fans can’t help but wonder whether his green comic-accurate costume – sometimes cheesy – will make an appearance.
It appears that some believe the green attire of Scorpion might feature in the upcoming Spider-Man film, based on a recent social media update by Michael Mando, who stars in Brand New Day.
On his Instagram story, Mando posted a picture (which is still available on Cosmic Marvel’s X platform) showing an old Scorpion action figure dressed up as a supervillain. This could suggest that the costume from the comic books will indeed appear in Spider-Man 4.
For people who don’t know, the character Scorpion is frequently portrayed in comic books as a ruthless crook who receives a vibrant green armor suit to battle against the youthful wall-scaling hero of New York City.
Typically, it consists of a big, green mask, a full-body suit resembling a singlet, and a muscular, ram-like tail used for charging like a ram.
Or simply: It often features a large green mask, a full-body suit similar to a singlet, and a powerful, tail-shaped battering ram.
The production of “Spider-Man: Fresh Start” (also known as “Spider-Man 4”) is currently underway in Glasgow, Scotland. This upcoming film from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios finds Tom Holland’s character, Peter Parker/Spider-Man, transitioning from high school to a full-time superhero in New York City.
During its journey, the young web-swinging superhero from Holland will encounter a few challenges, including Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s possibly transformed Hulk, and Michael Mando’s Scorpion. Spider-Man 4 is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
Will Marvel Studios Go Full Comic Book With Scorpion?
It’s exciting for Michael Mando to hint at his comeback as Scorpion in Spider-Man 4, but it really sparks anticipation when he shares images of the classic Scorpion costume on his social media platforms – a move that screams “comic book style”! Fans have a special connection with this iconic comic outfit, so let’s hope Mando understands its significance.
While there’s no definite confirmation yet, the storyline seems to be hinting strongly that the character may wear the vibrant green Scorpion armor again, similar to how it’s depicted in the script frequently.
In recent times, Marvel Studios has shown a willingness to incorporate some of the quirkier aspects from their comic book origins, moving away from the darker, reimagined versions of iconic characters.
Instead, we reside in a time where large-screen aquariums resemble the mystifying abodes of Mister Fish, and the costumes of the Fantastic Four take on a tranquil powdery blue hue.
It seems that, despite it appearing somewhat quirky, Marvel might be planning to don the bright lime green outfit for Mando in what could potentially be Spider-Man 4. This is even though his role in the previous movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, was merely a menacing crime boss at the end.
Given his intimidating portrayals in previous works such as Far Cry 3 and Better Call Saul, it’s hard not to think that he would be an excellent choice for bringing a live-action, comics-true Scorpion to life.
