When the latest developer update revealed all the exciting features planned for Crimson Desert, I initially thought the team might be taking it easy. After releasing three major updates in quick succession, a break to work on larger improvements seemed logical. However, surprisingly, here’s another update, released just a week later, and it includes even more content than we expected.
So, this new patch isn’t bringing all the stuff the developers were talking about, which is a little weird. But honestly, it threw in a bunch of surprises too! I wasn’t expecting some of these at all. Let’s check out the biggest changes they made, starting with…
Weapon Display
Building on the recent Headgear Visibility update, we’ve added the ability to show or hide weapons in your game. You’ll find the setting under Settings, then the Others tab, within Language and Gameplay. You can choose to hide all melee weapons, or just specific ones – perfect for creating guides without constantly equipping and unequipping items like swords and axes. For ranged weapons, you can set them to always be visible or only appear when you’re using them. An invisible bow just seemed a bit strange, so we figured this was the best approach!
Fast Forward Some More
Players discovered a helpful bug that allowed them to speed through normal conversations using the Focus button, and the developers liked it so much they turned it into an official feature! Now, you can speed up dialogue in most standard scenes (those without the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen). Tired of hearing lengthy speeches from unimportant characters only to give a simple response? You can now get to the important stuff – quests and battles – much faster. While full cutscene skipping isn’t available yet (which would be really helpful during boss fights!), you can now play dialogue at up to four times the normal speed.
Targeting Improvements
The combat feels great with its smooth moves and many possible combinations, but the camera can be frustrating, especially when it loses focus during fights. Thankfully, the hard lock-on feature has been improved – it now maintains its target from a greater distance, keeping you safer. Plus, it works better against large bosses, giving you a wider view of the battle.
More Fast Travel Opportunities

Do you remember when you couldn’t fast travel if you even slightly moved? While that issue was eventually fixed, it felt like a temporary solution, especially considering how often fast travel was unavailable. Good news: that’s no longer a problem! Now you can fast travel no matter what you’re doing – whether you’re riding a mount, falling from a great height, climbing, swimming, or even jumping, on foot or on horseback, it will activate.
Focused Aerial Roll
Previously, players could chain together gliding, Focus mode, and Unleash for a quick speed boost. While that combo was removed in an update, the developers listened to feedback and replaced it with an even better ability: Focused Aerial Roll. Now, while gliding and in Focus mode, simply tap the dodge button. Repeatedly tapping dodge will launch you forward with a powerful mid-air dash. This dash uses a significant amount of Spirit energy, but thankfully, it doesn’t drain your Stamina. It’s another great feature born from a popular player exploit, now refined and improved.
More Skills for Damiane and Oongka
Playing with Damiane and Oongka can be frustrating when there aren’t many enemies left, and we’re working on fixing that issue separately. However, this update does give them a small boost: they can now use Axiom Force and Nature’s Snare, along with their usual upgrades. If you’re getting overwhelmed by attacks while playing as either character, Nature’s Snare should help a lot. Also, while flying, you can use Axiom Force to quickly pull yourself towards buildings. Even better, you can grab enemies with it and yank them towards you for a powerful attack! We’ve also improved Shield Toss and Scatter Shot so they work like Force Palm, knocking enemies back and even breaking through walls.
Intel Arc GPU Support
When Crimson Desert was initially released, players with Intel Arc graphics cards were frustrated by the lack of support, and the situation was made worse by unclear communication from the developers. After initially suggesting refunds, then incorrectly claiming support was live, and later admitting it was still being worked on, proper support is now available. Players can also use Intel XeSS 3.0 and Frame Generation, although these features don’t perform optimally on Arc A-Series GPUs. The developers have stated they plan to improve performance in the future, but this release is a good start.
World Map Improvements

As a gamer, I always wished the world map was a little clearer about which caves I’d already explored or treasure chests I’d grabbed. Well, now it is! They’ve added separate icons for visited caves and looted chests, so I can quickly see what’s been done. Plus, the Abyss areas – both restored and unrestored – also have their own icons now. And it’s not just that, they’ve also made the faction quest icons different colors, which makes them way easier to spot. Honestly, there have been a ton of UI improvements, especially when it comes to…
Minimum Font Size and Camera Options
Now you can adjust the font size up to 24 points, which makes text much easier to read on bigger screens. We’ve also added several camera customization options, like adjusting the view range, moving the camera up or down and side to side, enabling auto-follow, and setting a lookahead distance. The camera offset tools are particularly helpful – you can perfectly center the view or get a close-up, over-the-shoulder perspective. It’s amazing how much a simple change in viewpoint can improve the experience!
All the Rest
As you’ve likely noticed, there’s always more to discover! Here’s what’s new: you’ll find a fresh track playing on the loading screen and three new battle themes (though not in areas like the Crimson Desert). We’ve also made Abyss Nexus plates easier to find. When solving Abyss Puzzles, it’s now clearer when you can use Force Palm, and you’ll get more helpful hints from lanterns and Blinding Flash, including clues for hidden walls. Finally, your Pailune camp now offers more room for building a farm and ranch.
The Visione’s Memory Fragments list has been updated to only display the fragments you’ve already found. You can now see details about each item in your storage, and we’ve also fixed several performance and optimization issues. Plus, we’ve improved the look of indoor lighting and reflections on water.
It doesn’t seem like the team is planning a break anytime soon, and that might be creating unrealistic expectations. However, if they continue to deliver this level of support even after their current plans are finished, it’s exciting to think about what they could achieve. Right now, Crimson Desert is in a great spot – though that probably won’t last long! – and we’re really looking forward to seeing what comes next.
