Unpacking the Osbourne Sibling Drama Between Aimee, Jack & Kelly

In the early 2000s, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne gained significant popularity as they welcomed television crews into their luxurious residence in Beverly Hills.

But only two of their three kids were along for the wild ride.

Aimee Osbourne continues to have strained relationships with her siblings, Kelly and Jack Osbourne, who have maintained a prominent presence in the public eye since they first appeared on MTV’s reality show, “The Osbournes,” where they were known for their casual use of profanity alongside their parents.

In an episode of the podcast “Disrespectfully” dated in July, Jack openly shared that his relationship with Ozzy was not strong at all. He emphasized that they didn’t share a particularly good bond, and this was something both of them were open about, making their strained relationship quite public knowledge.

Aimee’s distancing herself from Jack and Kelly, both aged 39 and 40 respectively, wasn’t solely due to her choice not to join the family reality show 23 years ago. Instead, she has consistently avoided participating in the family business ventures, such as the Osbournes podcast, since then, even while she has been actively working on her own music career.

On the May 2024 episode of the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast, Sharon expressed that her oldest daughter dislikes being in the limelight. She enjoys writing and singing, but she has no interest in becoming a popular music star.

Not only the three children, but also Louis Riley, who is 50 years old and a son from one of Ozzy’s previous marriages, joined in the family declaration upon his passing. They all attended Ozzy’s funeral procession on July 31 in Birmingham, England, before the Black Sabbath musician was buried in Buckinghamshire.

In 2002, when Aimee spoke with Barbara Walters, she emphasized that her decision not to continue appearing on ‘The Osbournes’ wasn’t due to dislike or a desire to hide the fact that she was a member of this family. Instead, it was about something else entirely.

Rather, she just wanted to finally do her own thing.

Aimee, who is currently 41 years old, emphasized that her personal life holds great significance to her. She explained that it felt incongruent for her because throughout her life, she has been very open about everything, making her feel that at this stage in her life and age, she can finally make the choice to keep certain aspects of her life private.

The Osbourne family reality show, airing from 2002 to 2005, didn’t overlook Aimee’s presence. However, the production team occasionally pixelated or hid her face when she appeared infrequently, such as during Ozzy and Sharon’s vow renewal in 2003, and generally minimized her screen time.

In a 2008 interview with The Independent, Aimee stated, “I’m not someone who’s shy or depressed and avoids the world, choosing to lock myself away. Instead, I decided not to participate in the show.

And Aimee was admittedly very self-contained even as a kid.

She shared with the Independent in 2015 that she often needed to take charge, but it felt instinctive to her. On the other hand, observing individuals acting recklessly, extravagantly, and dramatically seemed rather absurd or foolish to her.

Furthermore, she underscored her point by saying, “I continued to grapple with discovering my identity amidst the tumult of family life, which is why I didn’t want that portrayed on TV. I wanted to shield myself, as well as my parents, siblings – all who were young and easily influenced.

As Aimee looked back, it was clear that heated debates arose within the family when they were considering whether to participate in the show. However, she realized that her opinion didn’t hold much weight in the end. It was their journey, their choice, and they had every right to seize the opportunity if they desired to do so. And they did just that.

“Obviously, I would have liked to stay at home a little longer,” she added, “but it wasn’t to be.”

Aimee found the concept of growing up under public scrutiny deeply distressing, as expressed by Sharon in 2018 on The Talk. Consequently, she chose to leave at age 16, a decision for which Sharon expresses regret daily. It was heartbreaking for Sharon when Aimee moved away from home.

Over time, Aimee rebuilt a stronger bond with her parents. However, when it comes to herself and her siblings, she admitted to the Independent that there isn’t much ease between them, but they have reached a level of understanding. They don’t often socialize together.

And that didn’t change as time went by.

Kelly stated in an interview on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast back in 2021 that they rarely communicate. She explained, ‘We’re very dissimilar. She simply can’t grasp my perspective, and vice versa.’

When The Osbournes was produced, Aimee expressed on Disrespectfully that she found making a show on MTV akin to low-hanging fruit. She didn’t wish to capitalize on their success and tag along in their footsteps.

Nor did she jump on the bandwagon when the show was a hit.

It seems they never discussed if Aimee had any regrets about not being on the show, according to Jack. He mused, “If I were her, I might ponder whether my life would’ve taken a different course had I participated in it. Yet, I can’t say for certain.

Keep reading to find out more about the whole Osbourne family:

Originally hailing from Birmingham, England, the legendary rocker known as Ozzy Osbourne, also recognized by his birth name John Michael Osbourne, was born in 1948. It took two decades before his heavy metal band, Black Sabbath, which he co-founded with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, made their debut.

In 1971, Ozzy married Thelma Riley. Their family expanded with the birth of children Louis, Jessica, and Elliot Kingsley, who was Thelma’s son from a previous relationship. However, fame had its dark side for Ozzy, as he admitted in the 2020 documentary “Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne,” confessing to his destructive behavior fueled by alcohol and drugs.

Following his dismissal from Black Sabbath in 1979, Ozzy launched a successful solo career. His marriage with Thelma ended in 1982, and he wed Sharon Osbourne that same year, who was the daughter of Black Sabbath’s manager at the time.

Throughout their relationship, Ozzy and Sharon openly discussed their struggles-including Ozzy’s physical assault on Sharon while under the influence in 1989 and the marital issues attributed to his infidelity in 2016-as well as their triumphs, such as welcoming children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack Osbourne in the ’80s and renewing their vows in 2017.

Many of their personal ups and downs were chronicled on their reality show “The Osbournes,” which aired from 2002 to 2005.

Later, Ozzy took a break from the limelight due to health issues, including battles with Parkinson’s disease and surgeries resulting from a 2003 ATV accident. He performed in Black Sabbath’s final show in July 2025 and passed away weeks later at the age of 76.

As a devoted fanatic, I can’t help but share my thoughts on the extraordinary love story between Sharon and Ozzy. Born in 1952, she stepped into the picture as Ozzy’s manager following his departure from Black Sabbath in 1979. However, their professional bond soon transformed into an enchanting romance.

In his memoir, Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer confessed, “I was still married to my ex-wife, but I fell in love with Sharon.”

Sharon has managed an impressive roster of bands, including The Smashing Pumpkins, Motorhead, and The Electric Light Orchestra. Yet, her career took a dramatic turn towards television after the family’s groundbreaking series. She graced our screens on The Osbournes, competed on Celebrity Apprentice, served as a judge on The X Factor and America’s Got Talent, and hosted The Talk for 11 years before her termination in 2021.

Like Ozzy, Sharon has been open about her health battles over the years. She bravely fought colon cancer in 2002, was declared cancer-free the following year, underwent a preventive double mastectomy in 2012, and was hospitalized in 2022 due to an unspecified medical issue. Despite life’s twists and turns, their love for each other remained steadfast.

Reflecting on their relationship in 2023, Sharon told TopMob News, “We’re two oddballs, and we were two wild young people that found each other. I think we’re cut from the same mold. It’s not been easy. No relationship is easy, and you have to work at it. You get your ugly times, your bad times and your horrific times. But if you love each other, you’ll work through.

Aimee, born in September 1983, is the eldest child of Ozzy and Sharon, with two other siblings. She shares her parents’ passion for music, pursuing both a solo career and band work under ARO. Unlike her family members, she chose not to be part of ‘The Osbournes’ in the 2000s, feeling it was excessively nepotistic given her father’s media presence. Aimee valued her private life with her family and wanted to protect it. She also didn’t want to lose her privacy or expose family complications. Furthermore, she felt it wasn’t a good fit for her career aspirations.

However, Aimee hasn’t shied away from the limelight entirely. She acted in MTV’s 2003 version of ‘Wuthering Heights’, provided voiceovers for the 2014 animated film ‘Postman Pat: The Movie’, and starred in her own music videos.

As for her relationship with her siblings, Kelly has stated that they don’t communicate much. In a 2024 interview on ‘Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard’, Kelly mentioned that they are very different individuals and struggle to understand each other.

13 months younger than her sister, Kelly is identified as Sharon and Ozzy’s youngest daughter.

A versatile personality, she’s an actress (in shows like Life as We Know It, So Undercover, and even sharing the screen with Miley Cyrus), a singer (with two albums to her name), a reality star (featured on The Osbournes and Dancing With the Stars), a competition judge (on panels for Project Runway: Junior and Australia’s Got Talent) , a designer, and a TV host, overseeing series such as Project Catwalk, TopMob’s Fashion Police and Lego Masters Jr.

In her journey through the public eye, Kelly has been candid about the struggles she’s encountered, including her fight against addiction (now sober), past relationships (previously engaged to models Luke Worrall and Matthew Mosshart), and criticism over her appearance.

Reflecting in 2024 to Us Weekly, she shared, “My life has progressed significantly, and I am so thankful for every error I made, every lesson learned, for everything that happened. I have an amazing life. What could I possibly grumble about?”

Her life encompasses her son Sidney, born in November 2022, and her fiancé Sid Wilson, who proposed in July 2025.

With Sidney being born 18 months after she got sober, Kelly stated to Us Weekly, “I genuinely believe that my child saved me and made me a complete person.” “I don’t think I understood love before having the baby. I don’t think I truly had a purpose. I just went from one thing to another, and this level of self-hate and self-doubt I used to have would overwhelm me.

Sharon and Ozzy’s youngest child, Jack Osbourne, was born in November 1985. After gaining fame on the reality show “The Osbournes,” Jack ventured into acting, landing minor roles on “Dawson’s Creek” and the movie “New York Minute” starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. He also made appearances on various reality and competition shows such as “Union Jack,” “Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie,” “Dancing With the Stars,” and “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.”

In addition to acting, Jack has worked behind the camera, producing documentaries like “God Bless Ozzy Osbourne” in 2011 and the series “Alpha Dogs” in 2013. He often combines these roles, serving as both producer and star on shows like “Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour” and his paranormal series “Portals to Hell.”

Jack has been open about sharing his personal life with his fans, discussing topics such as his mental health struggles, his journey to sobriety in 2003, and his multiple sclerosis diagnosis, which he revealed in 2012. In an interview with “Today” in 2017, Jack expressed gratitude for the diagnosis, stating, “I kind of look at it as a huge silver lining to be honest with you.” He added that before his diagnosis, he would often spend his days idly, but now he is always active and striving to accomplish something.

Jack is also thankful for his family, which includes daughters Pearl, Andy, Minnie with ex-wife Lisa Stelly, and daughter Maple with wife Aree Gearheart.

In their childhood, Ozzy’s oldest children from his marriage to Thelma, notably Jessica and Louis, spent relatively little time with the rocker due to his frequent tours. As Jessica put it in the 2011 documentary “God Bless Ozzy Osbourne”, they had an erratic childhood with their father because he was often away or out drinking when at home. However, they still managed to maintain a connection after the divorce. In fact, there have been instances where they would reunite, such as when Jessica gave birth and Ozzy learned he had become a grandfather for the first time. When Ozzy was present, Louis stated that he could be a great father but it was not very frequent. Nowadays, with less touring and their children residing in America, they have fewer opportunities to gather together for family meals, but they do meet on special occasions. They also make an effort to keep in touch regularly through phone calls and visits when Ozzy comes to the UK. Louis’s brother Elliot is less public about his relationship with their father.
