Injustice: Gods Among Us Comic Gets an Affordable DC Compacts Reprint

The DC Compact Series might not offer the ultimate experience for enjoying your preferred comics, but it certainly provides an economical and hassle-free alternative.

It’s hardly surprising that the publisher is finding great success with this format, given ten new books were announced just this past week.

For fans of Push Square, there’s an exciting new development on the horizon – the upcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us edition, which originally hit shelves in 2013 and serves as a prequel to NetherRealm Studio’s initial game.

This DC Compact Edition, penned by Tom Taylor and Brian Buccellato, features artwork from several distinguished illustrators. The narrative focuses on the Year One segment of the storyline where the Joker concocts his scheme to poison Superman with Scarecrow’s toxin.

Here’s the official blurb for the book:

In a different phrasing, the narrative goes like this: “Superman is Earth’s top hero, but when he can no longer safeguard what he cherishes most, he chooses to abandon his quest to save the world and instead, seeks to govern it. This new Superman, the Last Son of Krypton, imposes peace on Earth by whatever means are required. The only individual who stands as a barrier between Superman’s acquisition of absolute power is Batman. And the Batman, using every resource available to him, will strive relentlessly to prevent his former ally from transforming the world according to his fractured vision.

Next year on the 21st of July, a 416-page book will be made available for purchase at $9.99. It’s important to mention that a larger format version of this collection was also released in 2016 and can now be found quite affordably if you look for it.

Our main issue with this book lies in its repetition of the original game’s cover art. Don’t get us wrong, it was a great design, but we think the comic’s stunning artwork could have been utilized more effectively for this purpose instead.
