Reports can swiftly escalate online, yet the head of DC Studios, James Gunn, is equally prompt at dousing misinformation concerning the DC Universe with a sprinkle of skepticism.
According to Jeff Sneider’s recent report, Robin, also known as the Boy Wonder, is said to have been included in Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin’s completed script for The Batman Part II. Sneider added that his sources consider the sequel a worthwhile wait and a significant risk taken by the duo. However, when a fan asked Gunn if any of this information was accurate, the head of DC promptly dismissed it all.
James Gunn debunks rumored story details for The Batman Part II
Folks, let’s not fall for rumors. As far as I know, only six of us have seen the script. No one has any concrete information about Batman 2 yet,” Gunn said in response to a fan on Twitter, suggesting he is getting tired of discussing minor details about the much-anticipated sequel to Reeves’ The Batman.
In April 2022, it was confirmed that there will be a follow-up to The Batman movie. This announcement came shortly after the DC reboot achieved both critical acclaim and box office success under Warner Bros. Pictures. Robert Pattinson is expected to resume his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, while Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell are also set to return as James Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and Oz Cobb/Penguin in the new film.
In simple terms, “The Batman Part II” is the third chapter in Reeves’ crime saga, following “The Batman” and “The Penguin.” The story continues after these films, with “The Penguin” being set a week after the 2022 movie. In this sequel series, Colin Farrell’s character Oz Cobb aims to rule Gotham’s criminal world, creating conflict with Cristin Milioti’s character Sofia Falcone. Notably, “The Penguin” was well-received by critics for DC Studios, earning numerous awards and Emmy nominations.
The filming for The Batman Part II is set to start in early 2026 in England, with plans for a big-screen premiere on October 1, 2027.
