As a seasoned lifestyle guide, I’d like to share an insightful conversation I had with the renowned figure, Madi Prewett, who previously graced our screens on “The Bachelor.” She bravely delved into a sensitive yet crucial topic in her life – the challenges she’s faced regarding pornography and masturbation.
During the June 23rd episode of her “Stay True” podcast, Madi, aged 29, explained that the primary topic they would be discussing was sexual impurity, specifically concerning pornography and self-pleasure. She also mentioned their intention to link why purity and holiness are important to God, and why this is a calling for God’s children.
Madi admitted that “this has been a struggle” for her since middle school.
I’m grateful because for about a decade now, God’s grace, the support of my spiritual community, and those around me have helped me overcome struggles with pornography and masturbation. However, these were issues that held me captive and left a lasting impact on me for quite some time.
In simpler terms, Madi went on to say, “Despite my deep affection for Jesus, I found it difficult to overcome the grip of sin, specifically addiction to pornography and masturbation.
During her middle school days, the former Bachelor Nation star admitted to exploring media with themes about relationships and intimacy, including songs and TV shows that discussed “dating and casual encounters.
She reminisced, “I’d had instances where I felt curious, harbored certain thoughts, or even imagined things. I hadn’t shared these feelings with anyone before. At the time, I was about 13 years old and hadn’t taken any action related to those curiosities. However, one day at a friend’s house when her parents were absent, she put on a show that was incredibly inappropriate.
Madi admitted to discovering sensations and desires she hadn’t encountered previously, prompting her to explore content on YouTube that eventually resulted in self-stimulation. She remembered feeling ashamed, primarily due to her belief that she couldn’t discuss her difficulties with anyone else.
Living in secret will only lead to more wrongdoings and feelings of embarrassment, as this is where problems tend to grow. I could not overcome my struggles until I shared them with others, until I stopped allowing secrets and solitude to control my life.
Madi confided to her audience that she had struggled with these emotions for a prolonged period, yet she managed to conquer them successfully.
She confessed feeling deeply remorseful and trapped due to her love for Jesus and her desire to live a life dedicated to Him, yet struggling with the ways to escape her current situation. She was unable to find a way out of her sin, which left her feeling powerless and robbed of confidence elsewhere in her life.
She openly admitted, “I doubted both my value and who I am.” She explained, “Each time I succumbed to sexual temptation, I lost sight of my reason for being.
