They had style, they had flair, they were there. They, of course, are the Fines and Sheffields.
Concerning the matter at hand, it’s “Dying Is No Excuse!” Since more than 25 years have passed since “The Nanny” aired its last episode, Fran Drescher (also known as Nanny Fran Fine) supported her onscreen mother, Renee Taylor (Sylvia Fine), and her TV stepdaughter, Nicholle Tom (Maggie Sheffield), as she watched their play on August 9 in Massachusetts. This outing was attended by her former husband, Peter Marc Jacobson.
Last night was a spellbinding theatrical event, as Fran (age 67) shared on Instagram alongside pictures featuring herself, Renée, and the entire cast. This triumphant production serves to honor and celebrate the intricate, love-filled marriage and partnership between Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna.
Yes, Sylvia—er, Renée—wrote that play and not Mr. Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy).
Renee, now 92, is a remarkable talent who both starts and concludes the performance,” Fran remarked about the iconic actress, whose husband passed away from cancer in 2018. “The sequence of flashbacks commences when Renee was 30 and spans their entire life together, encompassing their time on The Nanny and Joe’s fight with cancer.
Regarding Nicholle’s place in everything that’s happening, it can be said that she takes on a significant part by helping bring Renee’s tale to vivid reality.
In her praise, Fran declared that Nicholle Tom, best known for playing The Nanny, delivers an outstanding, fearless, and incredible portrayal of Renee and Joe. Similarly, Jack Maxwell from Booze Traveler showcases a remarkable tour de force performance as Joe. “The supporting cast”, she added, are seasoned professionals who bring various characters to life with their exceptional acting skills, giving depth to the numerous faces they portray in different stages of their lives.
“If you’re anywhere near Stockbridge MA., GO,” she concluded. “Next stop hopefully Broadway!”
And yes, the kids (or, now adults) are smiling—such joie de vivre!
Nicholle expressed her gratitude in the comments, saying, ‘Thank you tremendously for joining us.’ She was thrilled to have met you and Peter, adding that your presence made a significant impact on her.
