Following the jaw-dropping cliffhanger of Doctor Who’s season 15, creator Russell T Davies expresses excitement about the upcoming spin-off titled The War Between the Land and the Sea, deeming it to be simply magnificent.
Information is gradually surfacing regarding the upcoming spin-off series. This new show will focus on UNIT’s efforts to halt a worldwide peril triggered by the reappearance of renowned enemies from Doctor Who, the Sea Devils.
Showrunner Davies has expressed great pride over the five-part series, stating that he believes it’s outstanding and remarkably similar to having a solid concept in mind.
On the Pilot TV podcast, he commented, “At times, when we complete a series, they say, ‘Excellent, well done, we’ve done a fantastic job.’

Originally, it was believed that The War Between would premiere prior to the year’s end in 2025, but as per Davies, a definitive release date remains unconfirmed. This implies there might be a delay, and our wait could stretch beyond our initial expectations.
In this production, Gugu Mbatha-Raw takes on the role of Salt, a Sea Devil character, while Russell Tovey portrays a man named Barclay.
In addition, they will be accompanied by distinguished UNIT veterans Jemma Redgrave (playing Kate Steart), Alexander Devrient (as Colonel Ibrahim), and Ruth Madeley (portraying Shirley Bingham).
As a devoted fan of Doctor Who, I find myself eagerly waiting for Disney to make up their mind on whether we’ll get more seasons of this iconic sci-fi show. Recent remarks by Davies have added an element of uncertainty to our anticipation.
