After showcasing the kusarigama in “Ghost of Yōtei,” Sucker Punch Productions has unveiled a fresh trailer focusing on the yari, the Japanese counterpart to a spear. In the new clip, Atsu is depicted in a skirmish on a bridge against some robbers, meting out severe retribution.
In simpler terms, Atsu makes a fierce attack by lunging forward with a spear (yari), impaling an enemy and forcing them backward into a group. The spear then maims and pierces other enemies. Furthermore, she uses the spear as a stepping stone to kick another enemy back. Finally, Atsu executes a high-jump slash, delivering a powerful blow with the yari against her opponent.
Based on where you’re standing, the assisted kick could send opponents over the edge and plunge them into the water below. Although it may not be as flashy as the kusarigama, the yari remains a reliable choice, particularly for those who prefer a bit of distance in their close-combat attacks.
On October 2nd, Ghost of Yōtei is set to debut on PS5, and Atsu will have additional weapon options at his disposal. It’s likely we’ll uncover more details in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out for Sucker Punch’s insights about those who prefer using a single type of weapon.
