Brandon Blackstock is being remembered by those who knew him best.
After the talent manager who ended his 10-year marriage with Kelly Clarkson in 2022 due to a divorce passed away following a three-year fight against cancer, his daughter Savannah Blackstock Lee shared insights about her father’s last months. She mentioned that in his final stages of life, Brandon had grown more spiritual or religious.
For the past six months, my father has introduced a new dimension to our relationship, focusing on our shared faith in Jesus. Previously, he had always appreciated the Lord, but six months ago, he deepened his connection with Him. His thirst for spiritual knowledge was insatiable, and we embarked on this journey together.
She went on to say, “He has given me far more than I ever requested or deserved during my lifetime, but exactly twelve days ago, he bestowed upon me the most precious gift I could have imagined. This gift was the knowledge that he is now in Heaven, united with our Savior.
Savannah, who was the first wife of Brandon, Melissa Ashworth, reminisced and shared some of her most cherished memories with her father throughout her lifetime.
In a heartfelt expression, the 23-year-old expressed that their father never failed to fulfill their dreams. No matter how lofty or distant they were, he found a path for them. Moreover, he didn’t just make their dreams come true, but joined them in the pursuit. He was an unwavering supporter from afar, acting as their biggest cheerleader on a global scale. To them, he is not only a dear friend, a source of wise counsel, but also a cherished daily phone call.
And despite her grief, Savannah feels some peace because of his faith.
She said, “Part of me and my cherished cowboy are gone, but heaven has a new guardian angel now.” She continued, “I’m incredibly grateful for the time we shared, and I eagerly look forward to our eternal reunion. I love you forever, daddy, and I will dearly miss you. May you enjoy your heavenly ranch, as it was created with your heart’s dreams in mind.
Following the confirmation of Brandon’s passing at 48 years old, with the words “he departed peacefully, with loved ones by his side,” those close to him paused to express their sincere tributes.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my feelings when the legendary Reba McEntire, who was once tied by marriage to my father Narvel Blackstock from 1989 to 2015, posted a heartfelt tribute to her “stepson/elder child.” It resonated deeply with me and reminded us all of the special bond that transcends traditional family ties.
Reba expressed in a post dated August 12 that his long journey has ended, and now he finds eternal tranquility in the presence of God. No one could ever replace him, and she cherishes the time they shared. His unique legacy and infectious laughter will live on through his family. Farewell, cowboy. May your journey be smooth until we meet again.
Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock, who is both Reba and Narvel’s son and Brandon’s half-brother, and a skilled race car driver, expressed his condolences with the following words: “Brandon Blackstock was an invaluable member of our family – he was always funny, intelligent, and brimming with life. We will miss him dearly. He shared so much knowledge with me, leaving behind a treasure trove of cherished memories that I’ll keep forever.
Kelly, who has two children, River Rose (age 11) and Remington “Remy” Alexander (age 8), with Brandon, announced a day before his passing that she was cancelling her planned performance dates in Las Vegas because of Brandon’s illness.
The former American Idol contestant announced on Instagram on August 6 that they have to delay the rest of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas due to a personal situation. Specifically, their child’s father has been unwell, and at the current time, they need to focus completely on being there for them.
Apart from being Brandon himself, he is also known as the father of Seth Blackstock, whom he shares with his former partner Melissa. In 2022, a special role was added to his life when Savannah welcomed their grandson, Luke, into the world.
