The distraught matriarch of the Desmond family confides in Loid that not only can Donovan read people’s minds, but she also suspects that an alien has taken over Donovan’s identity. She explains that Donovan underwent a significant transformation around the time when her first or possibly her second son was born. Due to living under intense stress for several years, her memory is somewhat hazy, and she can’t recall exactly when Donovan transformed into an entirely different individual.
