After Emma Watson played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films for a decade, Arabella Stanton faces a challenging task as she steps into the same role for HBO’s Harry Potter series. However, when she was selected from among countless young actors auditioning, I had high expectations, and now, having heard her deliver one of her character’s most memorable lines, I’m even more confident that she is ideal for the part!
Before the series premiere, we already had a sneak peek at Stanton portraying Hermione, as she is also providing the voice for her in the upcoming Full-Cast Audio Editions of the Harry Potter audiobooks.
I must admit, her audition for the role left me with a strong sense of deja vu, as if I were watching Emma Watson herself. But when I listened to her voice in the recent Audible interview, it became crystal clear that she’s more than just a worthy contender – she is perfection personified for this part. Experience it for yourself by checking out Stanton’s interview below.

The school has taught them how to say “Leviosa!” Just like Hermione Granger would be happy if she were real, hearing the actress from Matilda: The Musical utter those lines as our beloved clever witch gives us a genuine taste of her portrayal in the upcoming TV series.
As a devoted movie buff, I’d like to share an intriguing perspective about two extraordinary actresses and their roles as Hermione in the beloved fantasy films. Emma Watson, in her own words, proved her worthiness for the part by committing everyone’s lines to memory – a testament to her dedication and talent.
On the other hand, Arabella Stanton has a captivating take on why she was destined to embody Hermione: she was born with a unique, magical connection that resonates deeply with the character. This personal insight adds an enchanting layer to our appreciation for both the actress and the role she could bring to life.
As a film enthusiast, I find myself speaking rather eloquently, much like Hermione does. In my conversations, I tend to enunciate every word clearly, perhaps more than necessary. It seems to me that Hermione takes this to an extreme, always articulating her thoughts meticulously and with precision, which can sometimes come across as overdoing it.
From listening to Arabella Stanton discuss Hermione, it seems as though she embodies her character quite thoroughly. Her delivery of the young witch’s famous lines feels incredibly authentic. Emma Watson did an outstanding job capturing Hermione’s exceptional enunciation in the film series, so it wouldn’t be unexpected for Stanton to follow suit. If one is to portray a studious character known for her intelligence, a confident and precise speech style that reflects extensive reading seems essential.
As a cinephile, I’d proudly put myself in the shoes of Hermione – the brilliant bookworm from the Harry Potter series. Just like her, I can’t help but excel academically and strive for perfection, much to the delight of Arabella Stanton, who perfectly embodies the intelligence and innocent charm that have made Hermione an enduring icon in the world of cinema.
In simpler terms, hearing Arabella Stanton utter “Leviosa” was enough to convince me she’d be perfect for the role. It seems both Audible and HBO agree, as they saw her ability to beautifully portray Hermione’s charm, intelligence, and essence in an authentic way. She has truly captured the heart of the beloved Harry Potter character, making it possible for a new wave of fans to cherish her interpretation.
Anticipate Stanton portraying the character of the book-loving witch in the upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series, scheduled for streaming on HBO Max in 2027. In the meantime, you can preview her interpretation of Hermione by pre-ordering “Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions,” set to be released on November 4th.
