It’s fair to say that the production of The Batman Part II has had its ups and downs. However, it seems that the much-awaited sequel is now progressing smoothly. Finally, there’s a completed script for the movie. Recently, on X (previously known as Twitter), director Matt Reeves of The Batman Part II posted a photo with his co-writer Mattson Tomlin. In the picture, they are sitting together on a couch, and in front of them, on a table, lies a script for The Batman Part II, featuring the famous Bat symbol prominently on its cover page.
In crime-fighting duo, as suggested by the caption on Reeves’ photo, he tagged Tomlin’s official Instagram account, X. You can view their post here: [Link]

Ever since the official announcement of The Batman Part II in April 2022, the movie has garnered notoriety due to its numerous setbacks. James Gunn, one of DC Studios’ co-heads, attributed these delays to an unfinished script, asking fans for patience as Matt Reeves worked on perfecting the sequel’s narrative. The Batman Part II is now slated for release in October 2027, over five years following its prequel’s debut. It’s anticipated that production will commence at some point next year, once Robert Pattinson finishes his work on Dune: Messiah.
According to Gunn, “The Batman Part II” carries significant weight for DC’s cinematic future, yet he acknowledges the challenges it poses as he and Peter Safran initiate the DC Universe franchise. Notably, “The Batman Part II” falls under the Elseworlds banner at DC Studios, meaning it takes place in its own distinct timeline. Simultaneously, another Batman film titled “The Brave and the Bold” is being developed as a project within the DCU. Gunn understands that “The Brave and the Bold” must be unique enough from “The Batman” to warrant its creation.
It’s still a long journey until “The Batman Part II” makes its cinema debut, but it’s exciting to witness the movie progressing to this point. Considering the numerous setbacks and extended time in pre-production, some enthusiasts had begun to worry that the production might have been scrapped altogether. However, Gunn consistently assured us that “The Batman Part II” was indeed in development, and now fans can finally lay their eyes on the script as evidence. Here’s hoping this is a sign of smooth sailing ahead without any more hiccups or delays.
Once the script is finalized, it’s time to focus on casting. Key characters like Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell are expected to return, but it will be exciting to see who else joins the cast for the sequel. Previously, Reeves has hinted that the film will introduce an unexpected villain, one he hopes will leave audiences surprised. After Paul Dano’s chilling portrayal of the Riddler in the first installment, setting a high standard, it remains to be seen if Reeves can live up to the hype with both The Batman and The Penguin. The anticipation for The Batman Part II is definitely building.
