Lockwood and Co.” remains an ideal choice for enthusiasts seeking a chilling blend of supernatural thriller and mystery. Hailing from the writings of Jonathan Stroud, this series was primed for success. It had the potential to launch like “Stranger Things,” and it seems that Netflix’s expectations were set high in this regard. The narrative unfolds in a world where ghosts exist, but only children and adolescents can perceive them.

Investigating paranormal activities presents certain challenges, understandably so. Yet, we find solace in the existence of Lockwood and Co., a youthful detective agency specializing in ghost-hunting. Comprising only three teenagers – Lucy Carlyle, Anthony Lockwood, and George Karim – this team is determined to tackle spectral beings and otherworldly creatures.

The television series Lockwood & Co. unfortunately ended after just one season. This single season encompassed the initial two novels from Jonathan Stroud’s series: The Screaming Staircase and The Whispering Skull. With that in mind, fans who have recently watched Season One will know precisely which books to read next. The show features Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati as its main stars.

Fans like myself eagerly anticipated each episode, longing to unravel the narrative’s mysteries together.

Despite achieving good audience ratings and viewership, the show Archive 81 unfortunately could not escape cancellation after just one season.

3) Santa Clarita Diet

If you’re one of those people who can’t resist a humorous take on the undead, it’s regrettable to know that Santa Clarita Diet was terminated in 2019. This dark comedy provided a unique twist on the zombie genre and offered some thrilling escapades during its run. The narrative revolves around the Hammond family, whose lives are drastically altered when Sheila Hammond transforms into a zombie. Talk about an awkward situation! Although she continues to work as a real estate agent, her appetite for flesh can only grow stronger with time.

Born and nurtured within a distinguished vampire lineage, Juliette Fairmont is approaching the age where she’s expected to claim her first life as part of the family tradition. However, her heart yearns for Callipe Burns, unaware that he comes from a generations-old line of vampire slayers and must establish his own reputation.

5) Shadow and Bone

Readers of Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse novels might be swift to assert that the series got off on the wrong foot right from the start. Despite our excitement at seeing this cherished world brought to life, there was one major issue: it combined two separate series into one. In essence, Shadow and Bone encompasses both the Shadow and Bone series and the Six of Crows duology. This decision is somewhat perplexing, given the stark differences between the characters and storylines.

In spite of its unusual decision, the first season of “Shadow and Bone” made a significant impact, causing viewers to quickly develop an affection for the adaptation. The Crow Club was singled out as a standout moment for many, prompting fans yet again to request (once more) a spin-off series centered around that cast. Regrettably, the second season struggled, leading to disappointing ratings and an early termination.

The series titled “Warrior Nun” is based on Ben Dunn’s comic character “Warrior Nun Areala.” It tells the story of Ava Silva, a 19-year-old who finds herself in possession of challenges and powers beyond her wildest dreams after mysteriously waking up from being dead in a morgue. Following an ancient artifact merging with her body (which was previously inert), Ava joins the Order of the Cruciform Sword, more commonly known as the Warrior Nuns.

For two seasons, or 18 episodes, the series titled “Warrior Nun” aired before it was unfortunately cancelled. Given its popularity, many fans were taken aback by this unexpected announcement. The show featured Alba Baptista, Toya Turner, Lorena Andrea, Tonteri-Young, Sylvia De Fanti, and Tristán Ulloa as main cast members.

9) Fate: The Winx Saga

Some enthusiasts might recall “Winx Club,” an animated series popular from the early 2000s. These very fans played a crucial role in bringing a live-action version to life. “Fate: The Winx Saga” premiered on Netflix in January 2021, and numerous fans eagerly tuned in to enjoy the new adventures.

The show featured Abigail Cowen, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Precious Mustapha, Eliot Salt, and Elisha Applebaum as its main characters.

10) Altered Carbon

It’s no wonder that lately there’s been a growing demand for science fiction stories, even those set in the cyberpunk genre. This trend leads us to “Altered Carbon,” a show adapted from Richard K. Morgan’s namesake novel.

The narrative unfolds in a future setting, approximately 300 years from now, where advanced technology allows for the transfer and recording of memories and consciousness. In this world, Takeshi Kovas, initially a soldier, transitions into an investigator, tasked with solving a murder. Notably, due to its unique premise, the series introduced a new leading character in its second season.

In my humble opinion as a cinephile, the intriguing series, “Altered Carbon,” graced our screens for two exhilarating seasons before taking a temporary hiatus due to unforeseen circumstances. Yet, the story didn’t end there! A captivating anime prequel was crafted, serving as a tantalizing glimpse into events that transpired prior to season one. The stellar cast included Joel Kinnaman, Anthony Mackie, James Purefoy, Martha Higareda, Chris Conner, and an array of talented actors whose performances were nothing short of remarkable.
