During the last weekend of June, you won’t find many fresh movies on Peacock. This is because new content typically starts arriving on July 1st.
While we wait, our team here at Watch With Us has been exploring Peacock’s movie selection to discover a fitting choice to wrap up this month.
One of our recommendations for lesser-known Peacock films you shouldn’t miss this weekend is the chilling horror movie titled “The Woman in the Backyard“, which was recently released.
However, if the previous suggestion is deemed too extensive for certain film enthusiasts, we also offer alternative selections. These include a heartwarming romantic comedy featuring a timeless duo, as well as a classic comedy that has maintained its humor effectively across the past thirty years.
‘The Woman in the Yard’ (2025)
As a follower of all things paranormal, I’ve often found that spirits typically linger in the shadows, biding their time until nightfall. However, the spectral figure at the core of “The Woman in the Yard” breaks this norm by making an appearance during daylight hours, right before the family’s very eyes, even on their own doorstep. This elusive woman, portrayed brilliantly by Okwui Okpokwasili, isn’t shy about speaking when approached, and at first, the family is skeptical about any supernatural connotations she might possess.
Yet, the woman isn’t just a ghostly figure; she harbors concealed connections to Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler), the widowed resident who shares her home with children. Ramona’s son, Taylor (Peyton Jackson), is growing increasingly agitated by the circumstances and contemplates dealing with the woman himself. However, this conflict may be one that Ramona must confront, if she chooses to do so.

‘Runaway Bride’ (1999)
In this new chapter, I find myself reunited with the extraordinary duo from my beloved memory, Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, under the guidance of the legendary Garry Marshall in “Runaway Bride”. Though it doesn’t quite capture the enchanting allure of our previous encounter in “Pretty Woman”, the magnetic chemistry between Roberts and Gere remains undiminished. I find myself in the shoes of Margaret “Maggie” Carpenter, a woman who has earned the title ‘runaway bride’ due to my history of leaving three heartbroken grooms at the altar. The world is skeptical that I won’t do the same with my fourth partner, Bob Kelly, portrayed by Christopher Meloni.
In this tale, Kevin portrays Ike Graham, a journalist who arrives in town to uncover the truth behind Maggie’s repeated failed weddings. As events unfold, Ike and Maggie find themselves developing romantic feelings for one another. However, their burgeoning relationship poses challenges since she is still engaged to Bob. Moreover, Maggie’s reluctance to commit could potentially jeopardize her connection with Ike as well.

‘The Commitments’ (1991)
The Commitments, a beloved comedic film, spawned two top-selling soundtrack albums from its fictional band. The group is so talented that it’s hard to believe they aren’t real! In this movie, an Irish band was the brainchild of Jimmy Rabbitte (Robert Arkins), a working-class man who lacked his own musical skills. Instead, he took on the role of manager to gather and nurture the band.
Jimmy possesses a keen sense for discovering talent, but the diverse personalities within the group soon reveal themselves as explosive. Lead vocalist Deco Cuffe, or Andrew Strong in real life, exhibits an inflated ego, while trumpet player Joey “The Lips” Fagan, known as Johnny Murphy, has already attracted the female members of the band. If this pattern persists, Jimmy might struggle to maintain The Commitments long enough for them to reach their full potential.
The Commitments is streaming on Peacock.
